This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered such a call, and I recognise it for the scam it is, especially since the HMRC would never reach out via a recorded message. I urge anyone who gets similar calls to be vigilant and not fall for these tricks!

I received a voicemail that mentioned something about an alleged fraudulent claim I've supposedly filed. If I don't press 1, it ominously warned that I could face arrest!

I received a rather alarming phone call recently, claiming there was some tax fraud associated with my name. They threatened that if I didn’t press 1 immediately, I’d find myself in a bit of trouble with the law. Naturally, I pressed 1, and a chap on the other end identified himself as being from HMRC, saying I had a fraudulent claim against me. When he asked how I was doing, I expressed my irritation about the whole situation, especially being told I could be arrested. Strangely enough, he just hung up on me after that. Quite the experience, I must say!
