Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC. I pressed 1 like they asked and ended up speaking to a guy with an Indian accent. I let him go through his whole spiel before asking for more info. He said I owed over £1000 because of a mistake on my Self Assessment tax return. Thing is, I never told him I was actually trying to trace the call, but I wasn’t successful. Once he finished his little speech, I told him bluntly that I don’t do Self Assessment because I’m employed full-time. Then I called him out as a liar and a scammer, warning him the police might be paying him a visit soon.
