Just a heads up, HMRC will not be reaching out to you via WhatsApp or any similar app about tax refunds. If you get a message on WhatsApp claiming to be from HMRC regarding money owed to you, it’s definitely a scam. Stay safe and don’t reply!

Today I got a call from this number and at first there was a recorded voice claiming they were investigating me for tax fraud. When I said my name after they asked, they just suddenly cut the call. Really strange!

Got a call where a scary voice told me I'd be arrested unless I pressed one about some tax fraud. I went ahead and pressed one to talk to the 'officer', who then asked me to verify my personal details. I just said no because if it was really HMRC, they'd already know who I am.

I just got a call supposedly from the tax office telling me to press 1, or else they’d send a warrant out for me. Yeah, like I’m gonna fall for that!

Got a call where someone acted like they were from HMRC and said I was being arrested for fraud or something. Felt proper dodgy, didn’t buy it for a second.
