Just to clear things up, it’s People’s Pension, used to be called B&CE, not HMRC like some folks have mentioned. This number is 100% genuine.

This number belongs to B&CE, the people behind The People's Pension and it’s totally legit. They handle the pension scheme for my workplace, so nothing dodgy going on here.

I’ve noticed loads of folks saying they never actually signed up for a pension with The People’s Pension. Thing is, since the government made it mandatory for employers to put workers into a pension automatically, a lot of us get enrolled without really knowing. The People’s Pension is just one of the providers that you might find yourself with if you’ve changed jobs a few times. It’s easy to lose track of where your pension pots are!

B&CE operates as a workplace pension scheme, so if you've worked for companies in the past or are currently employed at a place that uses B&CE for their pension arrangements and you meet the criteria, then you should definitely have your pension with them. It's worth noting that employers sometimes make errors with names, which can lead to duplicate records cropping up. A simple search for B&CE will reveal that it’s a standard pension provider and they’re also listed with the pensions regulator.

I recently received a correspondence from my pension provider indicating that I have two accounts, one of which is registered under a different surname. I was baffled, as my surname has remained unchanged throughout. It clearly suggested that something fishy was going on, probably some sort of fraud.

Received a couple of letters from this number regarding cashing in a pension over the phone - 03002000555. Honestly, everything I've discovered suggests it's a scam. There’s absolutely nothing reassuring or trustworthy about them, particularly upon further investigation.

I got an email from B&CE Financial Services with a link saying I could check my pension savings online. Thing is, I’ve never had any contact with them before. I called the number on the email, 03002000555. The automated message took a while and wasn’t very interesting. Eventually, I spoke to one of their customer service people. Turns out they’re connected to The People’s Pension, handling pension contributions through employers. They had details from both my old and current job. Seemed pretty genuine to me?

Got a letter saying someone reported me moving house and asking me to ring a certain number. Since I’d set up mail redirection with Royal Mail, it looks like they got my details that way. The letter said it was from B&CE, but then they wanted me to complete a form with my full name, postcode, phone, email and signature. Honestly, felt super sketchy and risky.

I got a call from a woman speaking with an Indian accent who said she'd connect me to a chief officer. Then some bloke claiming he was from HMRC started chatting, and what freaked me out was he already knew my name! He kept saying if I didn’t pay right away over the phone, the police would be at my door within a day to arrest me. I just ended the call straight away ’cause I could tell it was all a load of rubbish.

Got a call from some guy named Tommy, saying he was from HMRC with a really thick Indian accent. He claimed I was going to be arrested if I didn’t sort out some unpaid taxes on the spot. Proper dodgy! Honestly, I can see how folks might get scared and fall for it. Felt pretty threatening, not gonna lie. Ended up blocking the number straight away. It’s obviously a scam. Make sure you report these so others don’t get caught out!

Saw some missed calls from this number so I decided to ring back. A robotic American lady answered saying they were all tied up, so I just ended the call. Later on, I got another call from them claiming it was HMRC saying there's a warrant for my arrest because of fraud. I didn't even bother, just hung up and blocked the number straight away. Honestly, HMRC never phones like that!

I received a rather odd call claiming there was a problem with HMRC and that a warrant had been issued for my arrest. They urged me to press 1. So, naturally, I did. The next thing I knew, I was asked to hang up and just wait for the police to swoop in? Quite a peculiar conversation, if you ask me!
