I got a call saying they’re now doing Health Checks along with the usual National Minimum Wage stuff. If you look up the number on gov.uk under official contacts, it’s definitely from HMRC, so it’s legit.

Got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, said I had to send over my bank details or else I’d have to pay a £300 fine. Quite dodgy if you ask me.

If you have a look further down on that Gov.uk page, you’ll see that this number is properly linked to HMRC. It's not very likely that they’ll ring you from it though; instead, you might be asked to ring that number yourself if you need to chat with someone from the National Minimum Wage team. I got a call from a dodgy number pretending to be HMRC. I rang up the official HMRC contact, which I found on the government website, and they told me the number doesn’t exist in their records. The dodgy number came from a letter sent in one of those brown envelopes with the HMRC logo, saying something about a minimum wage health check for our firm - something HMRC doesn’t even do.

Got a call from someone saying they’re with the HMRC minimum wage team. Asked me to ring back but they had my old job listed - haven’t worked there in ages, like 3 years now. Feels like they’re trying to squeeze out personal info. Watch out, don’t trust these calls!
