Received a call from someone who clearly had my phone number and details about my workplace.

I was just using my laptop when suddenly a voice came on saying my accounts were at risk and I needed to ring this number. So I called, and an Indian guy picked up asking me loads of questions. When I asked who he was, he just said thanks and then ended the call.

I got a call from a woman speaking in some foreign language claiming she was calling from HMRC. She tried to link it to my old job and asked for personal info, starting with my National Insurance number. I told her flat out I wouldn’t share such details over the phone. I said if it’s legit she should send me a proper letter from HMRC and then I’d be happy to sort things out, but no way on a phone call, especially not my NINo. She insisted she could send a letter telling me to phone back, but I still refused and she just hung up. What a load of scammers! Watch out, folks!
