Some woman rang me and said, “Could you please tell me your name?” I just said no. She sounded shocked and kept saying “No?!” After that, she said she’d gotta end the call because it was from the government. Feels like she was looking to get me to say my name on record. Sounds dodgy to me, definitely a scam.

Turns out this is a DBS contact, I found it both on the internet and the paperwork DBS sent to me.

They never say where the call is coming from, just keep asking to confirm your identity.

I got called from 03000200190 twice in just about five minutes. Each time I answered with a quick "Hello," but there was just silence on the other end, so I ended the call.

Sounds like DBS, the Disclosure and Barring Service, ringing up probably because they’re doing a background check.

It only called me once, so I’m not familiar with this company at all.

Got a letter supposedly from the Disclosure and Barring Service, with a PO Box 3961, Royal Wootton Bassett SN4 4HF and the number 0300 0200 190 on it. I even called them and sent back the filled form, but now I’m starting to think it might be a scam.

the address and phone number match dbs, so no issues there. just be careful tho, because calls, texts, and letters can be faked to trick even the most careful people. it’s really important to use common sense and double-check things before sharing any personal info, just to be safe.

Got a call from a woman with a recorded message saying she was from the “national cyber crime unit,” warning that my service was hacked and to press 1 to speak to their tech team. Definite scam, best to ignore it. I reckon they'll ring again soon as these calls tend to keep coming.

I answered the call, but it was a waste of my time as I ended up hanging up. Charged me £1.29 for that nonsense.

I've not had a call from anyone, but I did get a letter prompting me to renew my subscription. Could this possibly be legitimate?
