Got a call earlier claiming to be from Commonwealth Bank, saying there was a suspicious transaction on my account that needed confirming. They sounded incredibly genuine and professional, almost convincing. They mentioned the call was being recorded for security reasons and used all the usual official-sounding stuff. The security questions weren’t very tough though, just basic info that’s easily found online about most people and companies. But it quickly became clear they wanted some client and account numbers to somehow take over the account or siphon off money. They cleverly slipped those questions into what they called security checks. I spotted it straight away and asked why they’d need such details, as those clearly weren’t legit security questions. When I quizzed them back, they couldn’t handle it so I just ended the call.

Got a call about some dodgy transactions supposedly from New Zealand. It's gotta be a scam because the sum they mentioned is way more than we've spent in ages all at once. Definitely something fishy going on.

Got a call from this number claiming my credit card had been cloned, really worried me.

Total scam. They gave me wrong info. I reported some transaction on my card that didn’t appear as pending on the CBA app. Then they asked me to press 1 to cancel it.

Got a call from a number with no ID, just spam as usual. Don’t know who it was, definitely no legit caller.

A caller said they were from my bank and mentioned some odd charges on my card. They then asked what my balance was before suddenly ending the call.

Oh yes, I definitely did! The guy rang up saying he was from Commonwealth Bank, warning me that someone was trying to chip away at my account. He sounded so professional, too! He gave me a fake name of a woman who, he said, was attempting to withdraw money and asked me to delete the Commbank app so he could supposedly lock it and reset it. He said I'd get a verification code to download the app again after. I didn’t share any personal info with him, but something just didn’t sit right with me. So, I googled the number and it turned out it *was* a Commonwealth number. When I told him I was suspicious, he even gave me a reference number for the call! Then I ended the call and checked my bank account - £19,950 was gone! What a nightmare!

Got a call from some bloke with an English accent saying my card was involved in some dodgy transaction. He even knew the last four digits of my credit card. Definitely sounded like one of those credit card scams.

I've been getting loads of calls where they want me to give them my bank details.

PHONE SCAM ALERT. They said they were from the bank's fraud team, talking about suspicious activity on my account. They sounded super serious and like they really cared. Even when I called them out and said I knew it was a scam, they didn’t back down and kept pushing, telling me “if you don’t want to continue with this investigation, ring the number on your card.”

They throw in some official-sounding banking terms, just enough to make you panic but it doesn’t quite add up.

REMEMBER, BANKS NEVER RING TO ASK FOR YOUR INFO.

Got a call from someone saying he was from Commonwealth Bank Australia's fraud team, with a proper British accent. The number showed up as Commonwealth Bank ATM on my phone. Nearly fell for the scam, it sounded so legit.

Got calls from someone saying they're from Mastercard security - a Ryan Jones using 0924685622, and another chap called John from 0299993283. Honestly, these numbers seem dodgy to me.

Got a call claiming to be from Commonwealth Bank, saying there were Netflix charges at 3 in the morning. Totally fishy since we've never even had an account with them! Definitely a scam trying to snatch personal details. Be careful out there!

Got an email claiming to be a missed call notification, something like “missed call routing info” sent to my inbox. It showed a date of Tuesday, 7th July 2020, and included a WAV file. The details said the call was from 00 61 2 9999 3283 with a duration of 363 seconds and a speed of 21600. I use a management system on my home phone connected to my landline router modem, and there’s no record of any missed calls from a NSW number. The WAV file came as an email attachment but I didn’t wanna open it - felt dodgy for sure. Seems like some kind of sketchy attempt to get me to play it.
