Received a dodgy call, best to steer clear of it!

I chose not to pick up the call as it appeared to be potential spam.

I got a call from 02922640937 but decided not to pick up since I don’t know anyone in Cardiff. I silenced my phone as soon as it rang. Once they hung up, I did a bit of digging on the number and found out it's been flagged as dubious. I wasted no time and blocked it straight away.

This afternoon, I got a call on my mobile and when I picked up, there was a noticeable pause before they responded, which raised my eyebrows. I decided to cut the conversation short and hang up. I don't usually trust calls from numbers linked to places I'm unfamiliar with, so I looked it up on this site for reassurance. I've since blocked the number just to be safe.

Keeps calling me every day, almost the same digits. Yet, when I answer, the line goes dead.

This number has called me several times now, and I reckon it’s a scam. Best to steer clear!

Seems like I've received a dodgy call from a call centre, likely situated in Kolkata. They were peddling some new phone deals, but it's clearly just a ruse to snag your personal information. Just a heads up, Currys never cold calls folks with promotions like that. Stay vigilant!

Received a call from a gentleman with an Indian accent claiming to represent Vodafone. I am a Vodafone customer, but my daughter-in-law is the one who manages the account. I ended up telling him quite firmly to 'clear off' and promptly ended the conversation!

I'm in the same boat here - they didn’t mention my name at all - but claimed to be ringing from Vodafone, stating that as a valued customer, I was entitled to a 30% discount. Then, quite oddly, they wanted me to confirm that I was indeed the account holder and who pays the bills. After that, they probed for the email address linked to my account. I conveyed my unease with that request. The chap tried to press me once more, but I reiterated my stance, mentioning that it was them who had called me, and I couldn’t be certain they were truly from Vodafone. The call ended with him promising to ring back later. It's worth noting that these calls have only just begun today, and they’re pretending to represent various companies like Vodafone, Currys, and so on – it’s clearly a total scam... despicable people, really. They ought to find themselves a proper job!
