At about 11:14 this morning, I got a call on my landline from 02690946882. The bloke on the other end sounded Asian and said his name was Steve. He kept saying he’d keep ringing me unless I heard him out. I just told him I was gonna hang up and then ended the call.

When I started chuckling, she totally changed and got quite rude. I can’t even type what I said back to her! Eventually she just hung up. Definitely felt like a massive scam.

Got a call from someone claiming I was on a list with 124 other firms and needed to pay £49.99 as a one-off fee to stop the calls. I contacted my bank to cancel my debit card, but they said they couldn’t stop a single payment that’s already gone through. Just a heads up, this scam is really well put together.

On 29/07/16, I filled out a form online with [email protected] trying to put an end to annoying calls on my mobile. Then, on 08/08/16, a woman rang me saying they'd looked into these nuisance calls and noticed I was signed up with loads of firms. She wanted me to pay £49.99 as a one-off fee to stop the calls permanently. When she asked for my address, I said no and also refused to pay. She insisted the charge was necessary since the work was already done, mentioned they'd pass my info to their admin team, and then hung up.

She offered to remove my number from their lists for a fee of £41.00 and requested my debit or credit card details. I declined, stating I didn't have my cards on hand. After rummaging through my sent emails, I couldn’t find anything that would have gone to such an entity. A quick search on the number revealed that many others have encountered similar scam attempts, hinting at a wider pattern. So, take note and stay alert!
