This happened to my grandma too. She got a call from that number and nearly gave them her bank info before I managed to stop her just in time. It’s awful how these scammers target older folks who are easy to trick. I’ve blocked the number now and made sure to report it.

What’s clever though, is that they’re calling from loads of different phone numbers, all starting with different area codes, making it look like the call is from all over the place. Got the exact same annoying call like the one someone else mentioned here. Last week I also received an email on my Hotmail saying HMRC was supposed to give me £588 and included a link to get the refund. Bit worrying if it's the same lot and they somehow matched up my email with my phone number. My advice: stay clear of calling that number.
