Last December 2018, I received a voicemail supposedly from HMRC threatening court action if I didn’t return the call. When I rang the number back, someone answered speaking in a foreign language and mentioned a case had been made against me by HMRC, asking if I had a solicitor. When I asked who the case was under, they just hung up. I tried calling again but it went unanswered. Today, I got the same voicemail again. Watch out for calls from 029 2125 8905!

So today I got a phone call from this number. The person on the end kept saying I needed to hire a lawyer or something, but I told them I wasn't interested and thought the whole thing sounded fishy. Honestly, I don't think it's legit at all. Please be careful and don't share any details with them. Someone really needs to put a stop to these kinds of calls! Cheers.

Heads up if you’re using the t####er app - it shows the caller as HMRC. These lot have clearly done their research because the caller ID makes it look legit, so you might get fooled into thinking it’s actually them ringing.

Today I got two voicemails in a few hours from what looked like HMRC but I knew straight away it was dodgy. I feel sorry for folks who might not catch on or the more vulnerable - they’d really freak out. These pushy scammers need to be stopped. Real companies rarely call your mobile and would never leave menacing messages aimed at you personally, same goes for emails. Always be cautious and if you’re unsure, look up the business info properly and get in touch with them directly using their official contact details.

Got a voicemail telling me to ring HMRC straight away because of a supposed lawsuit filed against me! When I called back, I told them, “Sorry, that’s not happening,” and then they just hung up on me. Got a call from some bloke named Dennis Gray claiming to be from HMRC. He left a voicemail saying either me or my solicitor must call back urgently due to some important issue. He called from a withheld number but then said I had to ring back on my mobile because he couldn’t answer calls coming from hidden numbers! This is the second time in a couple of months I’ve had a call like this, the last one was from an 0161 number. Seems like these people are using local area codes now to sound more legit.

Got a call early this mornin around half past eight, and it was one of those recorded messages sayin' I gotta get in touch with some officer Denis Gray at HMRC. I could hear other voices in the background speaking a language that wasn’t English, so I asked them to give me my tax reference number.
