Over the past few days, my husband has been harassed by constant calls. They keep leaving voicemails from the same woman, who goes by the name Jennifer Brown. She claims to represent the UK Inland Revenue. I really wonder when the telecom companies will step up and do their bit to put a stop to these scams! - caller: Jennifer Brown, UK Inland Revenue

I received a rather unsettling message delivered in a mechanical American female voice, stating that it was from Officer Jennifer Brown of Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. The urgency was palpable, as she made it clear that this was a matter of extreme importance. Apparently, if I failed to return her call at her office, or if my lawyer didn't reach out to her, I ought to brace myself for some rather serious legal repercussions. The whole thing felt quite alarming! - ring from: Jennifer Brown, HMRC

Following on from what I've mentioned, I had a call from Joseph in the accounts department based in India, claiming he wanted to deposit some funds into my bank account. Strangely enough, he informed me that my credit score was rather poor and wouldn’t improve unless I transferred them a sum - specifically, 10% of the amount, which turned out to be £238.50. It’s clearly a con! Stay alert, everyone!

I had a rather dubious call from someone named "Josh," claiming to be from the Bank Reclaim Department, and he mentioned something about my winning a payout of £2385. Oddly enough, he seemed to possess my date of birth and home address. He went on about the British Tax Council and how I was required to fork over 10% of the winnings to them. He was quite adamant that if I shared my bank details, they'd deposit the entire amount and follow it up with a letter to my home. I didn’t divulge any information, though, and when I tried to return the call, I was met with a rather unhelpful answering machine!
