Sounds like a con to me! Got a call on my phone today at around 3:15 pm from this number, and they left a message about some ‘tax dodging’ issue, threatening legal action. Seemed dodgy because I’m pretty sure HMRC wouldn’t just ring up like that - they’d send a letter first. This is actually the second call I’ve had in the past couple of weeks from similar numbers. Previously, I got one from 01865600489 with basically the same sort of message.

Got a voicemail from HMRC telling me they’re taking legal action against me. Completely caught off guard!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with hmre, saying they'll take action if i don't ring back. When i did call, it just went straight to voicemail (would have thought hmrc could keep you waiting on the line). Looking back, they also used american words like “courthouse”, which made me doubt it even more.
