At 3:35pm on Wednesday 19th July 2023, I got a call on my mobile from a woman with an Indian accent who sounded really uninterested and claimed to be from Virgin Media. I asked her a couple of times if she could verify who she was by giving me my name or some account info, just to be sure it wasn’t a scam. She never replied and then just ended the call. I've blocked the number now. Honestly, I think people answering these surprise calls should ask for the caller’s name straight away to avoid any dodgy stuff.

Some woman called claiming to be with O2 and chatted briefly before handing me over to her so-called 'supervisor'. I got a security code sent to my phone that looked like it really came from O2, but obviously that can be faked. They couldn’t even confirm my name or details about my account. On 19 July 2023, about 12:50, I got a call from this number pretending to be from O2, saying they had a 40% discount on my upcoming bill. The person on the phone had a strong foreign accent and I didn’t catch it all clearly, but they asked me to share a six-digit code I’d supposedly get in a text to confirm the discount. Feels like a sketchy attempt to grab my 2FA code! Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Someone rang me saying they were from 3, offering a discount on my existing contract. The way they spoke suggested they might be calling from somewhere in South East Asia. Once they asked what I was paying, I instantly realised it was a scam and told them straight up. I never bother giving out my name when I pick up calls like this.
