Got a call on my landline that’s registered with TPS. There was ages of silence and just as I was about to hang up, I heard a voice start talking. Strange!

I received a rather dubious call earlier regarding what they claimed was my television maintenance subscription, suggesting that my fee would drop from £7 to a mere £5 each month. The catch? I don’t even have such a policy in the first place! I expressed my gratitude for their supposed generosity, and the chap on the other end, who had an Asian accent, proceeded to ask me to verify my name and address-clearly attempting to elicit a “yes” response that might be misused later on. In response, I repeatedly inquired, “Could you tell me where you’re calling from?” every time he posed a question. After a brief exchange, he abruptly ended the call. The lesson here is simple: steer clear of saying “yes” when engaging with unsolicited callers.
