ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS!! We really need to hold these people accountable and flag this illegal behaviour. I've put the info below. It's always the less aware folks who end up getting duped, while the rest of us just get fed up. The only way to put an end to it is by reporting every incident. Let’s flood the police with complaints about these scams - right now they probably haven’t got a clue how widespread this mess is, hitting most of us almost every day. And don’t forget to complain to your MP about it!

I got a call from this number on 01/09/22 at around 2.30pm. I wasnt home so didnt pick up, and they didnt leave any message or anything. Ive gone ahead and blocked the number now.

There was loads of background noise so I reckon it was some dodgy call centre. Proper scam from overseas, total muppets.

He refused to tell me his name but kept saying he could help me save loads on insurance for my boiler. I told him I was fine with my current provider, but that didn’t seem to sit well with him. Then he started getting rude, saying I couldn’t understand English properly, even though it was clear he struggled with it himself and couldn’t even grasp simple numbers. I told him again I was happy with what I had and he should take his offer elsewhere. Even after I ended the call, he was still being aggressive.

Picked up the phone and they knew my name straight away, trying to sell me some kind of home appliance insurance. I told them I didn’t have any cover like that and reckoned they’d got the wrong Mrs M… ended the call pretty quickly after that. Blocked the number now as it seems loads of people have been getting these annoying calls from the same one. Honestly, unless you’ve got some super pricey gadget, it’s probably better just to replace stuff every few years - technology changes so fast it’s not worth the insurance!

Got a call from a bloke claiming to sell home appliances, sounded like a classic scam from Pakistan. Told him I always wash my clothes by hand, so I wasn’t interested.

Got a call from some overseas-sounding lady claiming they provide emergency alert bracelets. Totally sounded like a call centre. Pretty sure it was a scam so I’ve just blocked the number now.

I got a call from someone with an Asian accent offering a free health alarm bracelet for emergencies like falls or fires. When they asked for my birthdate, I didn’t want to share it and as soon as I said no, they just ended the call. Quite odd really.

Got a ring from 02890 139408, looks like it’s from around Belfast, but the person on the line was asian and knew my name. They started chatting about insurance for home gadgets or something like that. I told them, sorry, you’ve got the wrong Mrs M.... we don’t have any appliances covered and then ended the call.

Nowadays, I reckon only the really pricey stuff is worth insuring - usually cheaper just to get a new one if something goes wrong.
