I received a robotic voice prompting me to hit any key to proceed with the call. I didn’t go ahead; it all seemed rather suspicious.

someone called askin for the owner of a cafe but didnt bother askin the name of the place, seems a bit daft to me! honestly, get a grip!

They said they were an electrical company or something, just like loads of others. I cut them off and told them no thanks before they could finish their spiel.

I've tried blocking them, but it barely helps because they just use fake numbers. Until the phone companies step up and stop this nonsense, nothing's really gonna change.

Said they were calling from Scottish Power, offered a good deal on my electricity but then started pressuring me to get a card machine. When I explained I already had a brand new one I was happy using, they flat out told me they wouldn’t supply me with electricity! Honestly, just steer clear of these lot. Avoid at all costs!

There’s a couple posts below explaining how to take steps to block these pesky overseas scammers who trick vulnerable folks outta their cash and bother the rest of us too. It’s not super quick but I’ve been doing it myself - reporting all scammy calls and texts to the police’s system (got the link bookmarked). The catch is, it needs heaps of people putting in reports before anything changes. Every day loads of users here flag scam calls, but it’s a slow process. You won’t see results straight away, but if no one bothers trying, these scams'll just keep on going.

got a call from an asian woman asking for the business owner. i explained he's actually based in the US. she kept insisting she wanted to speak to the owner though. i told her again but she just wouldn't take it, so i ended up hanging up. sounded like a total scam to me.

Someone called saying there were damages to the house, which is definitely not right. Feels like a total rip-off to me.

The caller didn’t utter a single word during the whole exchange. In fact, it hardly counted as a proper chat since I found myself doing all the speaking. It was more of a one-sided affair, really. I’ve now gone ahead and blocked that annoying spammer.

Someone rang me from this number claiming to be from Iqra Academy in Pakistan. The caller had quite a strong accent, making it hard to catch everything, but he was asking if I had any kids who might want to join their online tutoring sessions. I pretended to be interested and asked a few questions. He mentioned that the company doesn’t have any offices in the UK and that everything is managed from Pakistan. That’s when I said I wasn’t interested since they don’t have a UK branch. Honestly, I’ve got no kids and no use for their dodgy-sounding service anyway.
