So I got a phone call claiming to be from Amazon, but I don't actually use Amazon, so I just hung up. Then I tried calling back and this automated message came on saying the number was blocked by the national fraud office. That’s kinda odd, right? If the number’s suspended, how were they able to ring me in the first place trying to pull a scam? Made me think something fishy was going on.

Got a call bright and early about half past seven, some bloke with an Asian accent said he was from Virgin Media and that my internet was having issues. Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming he was with Amazon. He told me I'd supposedly bought an iPhone and that it was all a scam. When I asked for my name to confirm, he gave me a completely different one. Then he started saying he needed my bank card details to "refund" the money I supposedly lost. I wasn’t having any of that! I got a voicemail early on a Saturday morning, around 9, from someone speaking with a Chinese accent. You could hear a TV playing quietly behind them. They were just repeating "Hello? Hello? Hello?". I received a rather dubious call earlier, seemingly from an individual with an Indian accent, possibly based in Birmingham. They were claiming to represent BT Openreach, but it felt more like an attempt at phishing, attempting to wrangle my device PIN numbers. The conversation was filled with nonsense, a real hodgepodge of tech jargon that bore no relevance at all. Curiosity got the better of me, and I started playing along, asking them what they needed from me. After a rather lengthy back-and-forth, they insisted I switch on my computer. To which I responded that I didn’t actually own one. The caller, clearly losing patience, exclaimed something along the lines of, "You’re just wasting my time, you daft bloke!" before slamming down the phone. Honestly, I was tempted to draw out the chat even more with a cheeky remark about my imaginary computer, but perhaps I’ll save that for another day.

Got a call pretending to be from BT Openreach, but it was clear it wasn’t them. Loads of noise in the background and the old ‘how are you today?’ line. I told them to hold on while I switched off the gas hob, and for a good couple of minutes they kept shouting hello over and over before just cutting off.

I got a call claiming to be from BT Openworld, saying my internet was running slow and they needed to talk to whoever’s in charge of the account. When I told them it was me and that I handle the bills for my business, they seemed to get a bit annoyed. Bit strange, really.

I got a rather dodgy call from this number earlier today. An automated voice, clearly a woman with a British accent, claimed that £900 was about to be taken from my Visa account. It urged me to press certain digits to prevent this transaction if I hadn't authorised it. Total scam! My advice? Just hang up and don't engage with it at all!

I received a call this Sunday morning from a lady claiming to be from Virgin Media regarding my sluggish internet connection. When I inquired about how to fix the issue, her suggestion was to physically stand in front of the router! It was 8:30 AM, and honestly, I was still tucked up in bed. I thought, "No chance!" and promptly ended the call. It had all the hallmarks of a scam. Normally, I might humour such calls, but I was in dire need of some extra snooze time.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Amazon, saying a £990 iPhone had been bought on my card but sent to another address. They told me to give my credit card info to block the payment and get a refund, saying it was a fraud. They said they’d inform the bank too, but I just said thanks and didn’t share any details!

Just got a call at home from someone claiming to be “Amazon." They said my order for an iPhone was confirmed and they took £399, with delivery coming soon. They told me to press 1 if I wanted to make changes. Since I never bought anything, I didn’t respond and checked my Amazon account - no sign of any purchase. Just received a rather dubious call from 028 8601 0604. It was an automated message stating that £399 had been deducted from my bank account and that my iPhone 7 was on its way. I promptly ended the call. I can’t help but think some unsuspecting elderly folk might get tricked by this!

I got a phone call earlier today, and right when I picked up, I was greeted with a recorded message. It immediately thanked me for an order I never placed and ominously stated that the call would set me back £300. Can you believe it? The whole thing lasted a mere 9 seconds before I hung up. Definitely blocking this number-complete scammers!
