Got a ring from this number about 30 minutes ago. The signal was really bad, so I couldn’t make out what they were on about. I figured it’d be pointless to keep it on and ended the call. Most likely some supposed O2 rep trying to flog a phone contract. I’ve had calls like this before and when I say no, they never bother following up or sending texts.

Claimed to be from Carphone warehouse. I said I also worked there and asked for the staff code. They didn’t bother replying and just ended the call. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from this number, they said it was from Northern Ireland but the accent was clearly South East Asian, so I reckon they were ringing from somewhere over there. They were trying to sell me a super cheap mobile from O2, but it just didn’t sound right, so I just hung up straight away.

Got a call from a dodgy number that seemed to be from near Oman instead of Omagh. I reported it to the police through their action fraud phishing site to keep track of these scams. I heard the US is adding Caller ID Authentication to their networks to block these fake calls. Maybe we should get in touch with our MP and ask why the same isn’t being done here.

It’s the second day now some unknown number has been ringing me. Yesterday, they told me I’d been in an accident or something! Today, I was already on the phone when they called, so no idea what their scam would’ve been this time. The number shows up as Omagh, Northern Ireland. Guess I’ll just add it to my blocked list. Stay safe out there folks. As for those scammers, hope they get hit with long covid for ages - that’d be some proper karma to kick things off! Just the beginning, mind!

Yeah right, like they’d actually do that - I reckon I should be getting a full discount with how terrible the signal is all the time! I just said thanks and ended the call. Received a call from someone claiming to be from Currys Mobile. I clearly mentioned to them that they had dialled the wrong number, as I don’t have a phone with Currys. I noticed they mentioned something about the call being recorded before abruptly hanging up. I could also hear an Asian family chatting in the background. Just a heads-up to everyone out there! These callers will spin any story to try and pull a fast one on you. It's crucial to stay sharp and always be one step ahead of these scammers!

A couple of comments below this one tell you exactly how to deal with these scam calls. If all the thousands in the UK who get these dodgy calls and texts every day take the recommended steps, hopefully the police and government will take bigger action against these scams. Don’t just leave it for someone else. It honestly doesn’t take much time. I’ve bookmarked the ‘action fraud’ site and even emailed my MP, who replied with a rather curious answer. But it’s pointless if only I’m doing it.
