Strangely, the number that popped up on my phone's screen didn’t match the one that actually showed in my call log (02880017777).

They were aiming to get into my computer to do dodgy stuff. I usually just mess with them for about an hour before mentioning I’m on Apple. It’s the best way to burn their time and stop them from causing trouble.

When I got back home, I noticed a missed call indicated by the flashing light on my phone. There wasn’t any voicemail, just the feeling someone had called while I was away. I used 1471 to check the number that had rung me, which turned out to be 0288017777.
Since the number was unfamiliar, I searched online with my iPad and stumbled upon this website.
Big thanks to whoever runs it - it saved me from falling victim to a potential scam.

I had a laugh messing about with them for about 10 mins. Like loads of others, they said they were from Microsoft but obviously they weren't. Bit of harmless fun winding them up really.

Got a call around 7:31 on the 21st of March 2017. When I told them "Use English if you can," they just cut me off. Bit amusing, really. Bet the next one’s gonna be from some race relations jokers or something?

Got a call twice from this number today. The first one claimed to be from Microsoft and kept telling me to follow some steps on my computer. I wasn't having any of it, told them I needed proof and didn’t believe a word they said. They asked if I could call back later when my husband was around and when he might be free, but I didn’t give them any info and ended the call. A couple of hours later, they rang again. I just told them straight up I wasn’t answering any questions and that they’re an unwanted caller, so I wasn’t going to chat or share anything with them.

Got a call from some place in India pretending to be Microsoft. They said my computer had issues and told me to download some software to sort it out. Turns out, it was all a trick to swipe my bank info. Never do what they say, it’s definitely a scam.

Got a call from a call centre in the Indian subcontinent claiming to be Microsoft, but it's totally fake. They try to convince you there's an issue with your PC and ask you to download some software to 'fix' it. Once you do, they basically steal your bank details. Please don’t fall for it - it’s a total scam.
