Got a call at 8.48 this morning from a woman on a recorded message claiming to be from the Inland Revenue. She said I had to call her back immediately, gave a name and a number that I couldn’t jot down because I didn’t have anything to write with. She warned that if I didn’t return the call, there’d be serious trouble!

Got a call from this number three times today, and on the third call I picked up because it was getting really annoying. A guy with an Asian accent, called Jordan, started talking about my “nuisance calls” expiring or something like that. He said they could keep blocking nuisance calls from the UK and abroad. I told him the only nuisance call I was getting was from him, and that if this so-called expiry was real, I’d just get in touch with BT TPS. He kept pushing which really irritated me, so I just ended the call.

Classic tale, just like what everyone else mentions. I stayed calm and ready to hang on while I searched for my bank card to confirm the info. What a plonker. He cut off the call and then phoned back straight away, so we just let it ring out on our end. I got a call where the guy said that from tomorrow onwards, all nuisance calls would be blocked. He then asked me to verify my card’s expiry date to prove who I was. I pointed out to him how he could possibly have my bank details when I hadn’t even contacted anyone about blocking calls. He didn’t respond properly and started shouting, getting really aggressive, so I ended the call. It’s really worrying how he knew my identity, address and even my old bank info. Where on earth are they getting all that info? Surely this can’t be legal.

That means having to fill in details and waiting for a crime reference... honestly, it’s such a hassle! They seriously should make it simpler to report these annoying scams.

Sounds like a classic phishing attempt to me. They start off asking for some small, innocent-looking info which might not raise any alarm, but they're really just gathering bits of your data bit by bit. They’ll keep trying to piece it all together. Best to just block and ignore them.

so this morning I got a call from some woman who asked if I was having trouble with annoying calls. I said yes, kinda dropping hints that they bug me daily - bit funny really! She even had my old address details, so I just played along. Then she started talking about my upcoming direct debits, which was weird since I don’t have any. Next, she wanted me to verify the numbers on my card and said she’d wait on the line while I fetched it. I quickly looked up the number she called from on here to check things out, told her what I found, and ended the call. Total scam!
