Like many I've seen, this was an unwelcome call and quite bothersome. Even though we're signed up with the TPS and our call blocker usually keeps these calls away, they managed to get through anyway.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the telephone preference service and they already knew my name. Definitely a scam, they rang me like 8 times just today!

Had about 5 calls today from different folks, 3 were actual voices and 2 just went dead silent. It's really tough since there's someone here who's quite unwell and another person far away we're worried about, so the stress is through the roof. Honestly, these callers have no sympathy at all.

Had pretty much the same thing happen to me. I’ve been out for most of the six hours since they first rang around midday, but they’ve managed to ring me three times in just the past couple of hours. Picked up the last call and there was a long silence before a woman with a non-English accent came on, said my name and said she was calling from the telephone preference service. Told her I was on their list and hadn’t requested any calls, then the phone just cut off. Big thanks to the person who flagged this up to Which, much appreciated!

Today I got rung up 8 times by the same number. First seven calls I missed cause I wasn’t home. Finally answered on the eighth, some bloke with an Indian accent claimed he was with telephone preference management. I told him that was rubbish, told him to buzz off and ended the call. Fingers crossed I don’t get any more calls, but I won’t be surprised if they keep ringing!

About five minutes ago, he rang me back again. I told him to get lost three times and he just wouldn’t stop! Eventually, I just ended the call. Then, would you believe it, he called again just two minutes later! I’m pretty sure this has to be classed as harassment, right?

There was this lady on the phone with a clear Asian accent, but she was really making an effort to mask it. She claimed to be ringing from some "Do not call me" service or something like that. I couldn't tell if she was taking the mick or not. I just replied, "If you’re trying to scam people, you might want to try someone else - why bother ringing me?" and then I ended the call.

For the past few days, I’ve been getting loads of calls from someone pretending to be from a company called Consumer Benefits. I told them I was going to report them right away. Then, a different call came through, and these people claimed to be from a call blocking service, but quickly started grilling me about who I was and if I regularly pay my phone bills. I told this Indian woman on the line that it was an obvious scam. Today alone, they’ve rung me at least 10 times, but I’ve ignored every single call.

They rang me like 7 times today. When I finally picked up, the person said it was the TPS checking if I’m still bothered by annoying calls. I told this Mrs Singh I’m getting bloody loads of them. Then she told me off for swearing! That just made me worse, and I said plenty more things I probably shouldn’t have. Needless to say, I’ve blocked the number now.

I got a call from a woman with an eastern accent, who said her name was Marie Wilson (yeah, right). When I didn’t want to share my info, she started getting a bit pushy. I just told her to stop being a nuisance and that she sounded like she was fishing for my details, then ended the call. Definitely one of those annoying scam calls.

Got a call from a woman with an eastern accent saying she needed to verify some info to stop nuisance calls on my landline. I knew straight away she was making stuff up with the questions she asked, and then she suddenly wanted my card visa details. Didn’t give it to her, and she hung up on me. Got a phonecall last week from this woman with an eastern accent, but when I answered there was dead silence on the other end. She eventually spoke up, asking if we get lots of unwanted calls and offered to help block them. I told her we’re already on the TPS, which should be stopping calls like hers anyway! Couldn’t save her number, but I’ve managed to block it using 1572 instead.
