Thing is, I just bought a brand new laptop and handed my old one to my daughter for college - it’s how we keep in touch. They kept insisting I switch on the new one, even though I hadn’t even started it up yet. Out of curiosity, I played along a bit, and they said the call was being monitored and they'd guide me through removing the virus. Then they said it would cost £159.95 to get rid of it. It’s a total scam, nothing more than con artists trying to rip you off. Don’t fall for it! They use several numbers, like 955 402 0737, 718 932 5555, and 347 462 1187. Be careful, especially if you’re older, because these scammers can take your card details and clean you out.
