Just the other day, I received a rather alarming call, purporting to be from HMRC. The voice on the line was a woman's, but it turned out to be a pre-recorded message. Strangely, she didn’t request any personal details; rather, she insisted I contact them straightaway regarding a supposed serious fraud case implicating me. Well, I had the good sense to ignore the call, as I’m fully aware that HMRC wouldn’t conduct business in such a manner. To make matters worse, a mate of mine got the same dodgy call a few days later! It’s utterly unacceptable and something really ought to be done about it.

Got a call on my home phone from these annoying lot. Luckily, I found this site and it helped calm me down, but not everyone knows about it or can find it. I just got a call claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs. They left a voicemail threatening me with some kind of serious action if I didn’t get back to them. I didn’t pick up because the caller ID showed it was coming from abroad, and I never pick up international numbers. As a 76-year-old woman, I got a rather distressing call this morning. The caller claimed I had an outstanding debt with HMRC, which sounded both threatening and quite alarming. My partner was quick to point out that they probably jumped to conclusions by addressing me as "Miss", which led them to believe I lived by myself.
