028 2014 0107 Got a call from a lady claiming to be from Ballycastle, Northern Ireland, trying to get me into some dodgy car finance deal. Apparently, these scams about selling car finance are really popping up everywhere now! I’ve never taken out any finance before, so I was quite suspicious right away. Honestly, I wish the Government would step in and stop private info being passed around like this. I really don’t want random cold calls or scammers ringing me up!

I got a call from an Asian guy, but when I asked him for my own details, he couldn’t say much apart from my surname and address. I kept pressing him, but that was all he had. I told him, if you really know who lives here, you should be able to answer some basic questions. I even warned him that if I looked up his number online, it would probably say “scammer”! Seriously, everyone needs to be firm with these dodgy callers and insist they provide loads of your personal info. If they can’t, then they clearly don’t have your full details like proper companies you deal with would.

Watch out, this is the dodgy company’s official address. They try to sell fake financial advice right after conning you out of your cash and personal details. Don’t bother calling back because it’s one of those numbers that rack up expensive per-minute charges. Best thing to do is just ignore the call. Or if you’ve got time to kill and want a laugh, answer it and play along with them - it’s a war dialler - see how long you can keep them chatting without giving any proper info.
