Got a call from an Asian guy who was saying my IP address switched from private to public. When I mentioned I don’t do internet banking, he seemed to lose interest pretty quick. He told me to turn off my computer and keep it off for about 30 minutes.

Someone rang me pretending to be from BT, saying my internet was suddenly listed as a public network and they could fix it to stop hackers. I just told him that was probably the plan all along! Luckily, he didn’t argue too much before hanging up. This was the second time this week, each time from a new number. When are these scammers gonna be caught? At 9.10 in the morning on July 3rd, I got a call from a woman saying she was from BT about my internet, but I actually have a different provider. When I told her I knew it was a scam, she just told me to "Shut up" and hung up. Just a classic telemarketer trying it on, so I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a call just a few moments ago, some bloke claiming his BT server noticed my connection was set as public instead of private. I listened for a little while, but got fed up and told him BT isn’t the company that supplies my phone or internet. I wasn't keen on chatting, so I politely disengaged and ended the call. Then just a couple of days after, I got another call that was eerily similar. I decided to reach out to my internet provider for peace of mind, and they confirmed that everything's running smoothly on their end. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Got a call from a guy named Oliver, sounded Asian, said he was with BT Openreach. He told me my IP had gone public and folks could see my bank and shopping details. Had a call from a woman with an Asian accent telling me there was something wrong with my IP address. I was a bit confused, then she passed me to a man, also Asian, who told me to keep my internet on and wait for a call back in about 10 minutes to explain the issue. They said they were from B.T., which I don’t use at all. I ended up unplugging everything, left it alone for a few hours, and when I turned it back on, everything worked fine. Definitely felt like a scam. Won’t be falling for that again.

This number rang me twice today, the 29th of June - once around half past nine in the morning and then again at midday. They said they were from BT. I hung up straight away on the first call, but the second time, they ended the call instead. Oddly, the first call appeared as an international number. Watch out for this one!

That person told me to check for a third-party app on my laptop. I wasn’t having any of it, got a bit annoyed, and they just hung up. Honestly, don’t fall for this scam!

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from our 'electricity provider'. When I asked which one, he said Eon. Then he started saying they were having trouble matching the postcode to the address, which sounded a bit dodgy to me. He asked for some details from our supplier account, so I just ended the call. Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from Eon. He said they couldn’t link our meter reading with our account number and wanted details from an old bill due to some tech problems. I've been receiving calls from individuals claiming to be representatives of EON, but I highly doubt their legitimacy. They request information about my meter and account, and then proceed to get in touch with EON to check for any credit balance on my account. It’s worrying, as they’re trying to divert any potential credit directly into their own accounts. Best to stay cautious!

i got a call from some bloke with an asian accent, sounded like he was working in one of those call centres. he said he was from british gas and wanted to speak to our accounts dept. when i asked him what for, he just hung up straight away. seems dodgy to me, i don’t think it was legit.
