I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from BT Openreach tech support. He insisted my internet was having issues and kept throwing error messages, running slow and all that. He kept telling me to "pay close attention, madam" as he wanted to fix the problem. I told him my husband works for BT Openreach and would take care of it when he got back. After a pause, the bloke just hung up. My husband’s pretty tied up with his BT job and his own IT consultancy gigs, so I guess this guy wasn’t getting anywhere with me.

Fooling around with some dimwit Asian Open Reach scammers who spent about 20 minutes trying to access a computer that was actually offline. After that, the nonsense really kicked off - had me laughing the whole time.

Scam Alert: Caller from India I’ve come across a rather dubious individual attempting to swindle unsuspecting folks by feigning issues with their computers. They’ll craftily assert that your machine is either running sluggishly or packed with errors, pushing you to check your Windows Event Log as supposed proof of these non-existent problems. Their ultimate goal is to gain remote access via ‘GoToAssist’ (which is part of LogMeIn) or TeamViewer, all under the guise of offering ‘technical support’. I managed to keep them engaged while I reported the client ID they provided for the dodgy software they were trying to use. If you encounter a similar situation, your best bet is to either block the number outright or toy with them for a laugh-just remember, they’re the ones incurring the call charges! They made three attempts to call us today, but thanks to our Call Guard system, they need to introduce themselves before the phone actually rings in our home. If they fail to do that, their call doesn’t get connected. I’m also planning to block this number altogether.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from BT, saying my internet was slow and needed sorting. I told them they were scammers and ended the call. They tried ringing me again twice after that, but when I warned them I'd report them to the police, they just cut off!

Got a dodgy call earlier from someone saying they were from BT, saying there was something wrong with my broadband. They asked if I was on it right now and what was showing up on my screen.
