I received a call at half past eight this morning, and I've had numerous instances where the caller disconnects as soon as I pick up or leaves me dangling on the line. As someone of retirement age, I find this quite unsettling. On top of that, a few times the callers have been rather pushy. My dear old father, who’s a sprightly 83, fell prey to a similar scam from another number not long ago, costing him a whopping £99. Thankfully, he's learned his lesson since then. However, now he’s been receiving calls from this new number, and they’re spinning him the exact same tale as before. It’s incredibly frustrating to see these pests still operating without consequence when so many of us are inundated with such irritating calls. It’s likely he’ll end up getting rid of his phone entirely if this carries on, as it’s quite distressing for him.

They’re really annoying, keep calling every day. Got a call twice in two days from someone claiming to be from a Government supported Calling Prevention Service. A woman with a strong Asian accent, called Fiona (maybe Scottish Asian?) asked for personal info. I only told her my first name and stopped. She left a number 0800 0869345 which when I called back, had a recorded message with an American voice telling me to press zero. I didn’t bother after that. Using 1471, it showed the original caller’s number as 02548996357.

Sadly, I can’t block those from outside the country, so whenever I get a dodgy call from a hidden number, I usually figure it’s from abroad. Lately though, this number has been ringing me around 8:30 in the morning quite a few times. They never leave a voicemail, but at least I get to see the number they’re using. They put me through to someone else called Jessica after that, but I just ended the call. Right after, the first guy rang back fuming that I’d hung up and asked why, so I told him he was a scammer. He got really annoyed and started up his usual nonsense again but I cut the call off again.

This morning at 8:45, I received a call from someone who said they were collaborating with the Telephone Preference Service to help block unwanted international cold calls. What struck me as alarming was that they had all my personal information, even though it’s a fresh phone line. We’ve only shared the number with our doctor and a handful of family members. It raises serious questions about how they obtained my details. Since we got this line installed four weeks ago, they’re the only ones who’ve cold-called me. This has all the hallmarks of a scam!

I didn't get a response initially, but a couple of days later, they rang me up claiming, "You've been receiving nuisance calls." Quite ironic, considering it's their own doing! Clearly, they're well aware of the situation... I reckon it's best to engage them in conversation for as long as you can; it prevents them from pestering someone who might fall for their tricks.

Got a call today from a guy with an Indian accent who said he was from BT tps and that if I paid £10 a month he could block all the spam calls. When I told him he was actually an unwanted call, he just kept insisting he could get my name removed from the red list. He said the red list was the reason I got calls from all sorts of people. Sounds like a scam to me.

What a bother! My phone started ringing, so I answered it, only to be met with persistent beeping sounds. I decided to dial 1471 to uncover who had the audacity to interrupt me. Turns out, it was a nuisance call I received a quarter of an hour ago from some so-called government energy-saving consultant. When I inquired about the department he represented, he couldn't provide a straightforward answer. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Some bloke said his name was Dave or John and said he was ringing from some marketing firm or something?! I just hung up, then used my £19.99 call blocker from Amazon to ban him. It’s way cheaper and never lets them through. I even set it to block all overseas calls too.

I received a call from a chap with an Asian accent who assured me they could eliminate all the pesky telemarketing calls I’ve been getting. However, to validate my identity, he asked for my credit card details. Can you believe it? They were after the expiration date and the first twelve digits of my card - that's nearly all of the number except for the last four! And, as if that wasn’t enough, they also requested the seven digits from the back of the card, which conveniently includes those last four digits again and the all-important three-digit security code! In essence, they were looking for everything they’d need to go on a shopping spree at my expense. Nice try, pal!

Received a call from this number earlier today, but it didn’t connect! We splashed out on a BT call blocker from Argos for £65, with a £2 monthly fee afterwards! It’s absolutely brilliant! Not a single scammer gets through - it doesn’t even ring on our side! Every penny spent has been worth it! The Telephone Preference Service only covers calls from the UK, which is pretty ineffective as most of the nuisances come from abroad, making it utterly pointless! So, do yourself a favour and grab this phone; it’ll eliminate those vile scammers from your life!

Got a call from "Frank Watson" speaking with a thick Indian accent. He was going on about lifetime cover for pensioners who always pay their bills! Said it was free - though we didn’t get that far. He gave me a number 0800 086 9345 and said he was connected with BT and TPS, but he had old info about me. I told him I’d call back. Still waiting for that call, Frank!!!! A lady phoned me saying she was going to put an end to the annoying calls. I asked her where she got my number from and told her it wasn’t the calls that annoyed me, it was the people making them. Would you believe it? She just hung up on me.

This number 02548996357 rang my dad this morning at about 9.16 am. He missed the call but noted down the number and asked if I knew who it was. I checked online and saw loads of other complaints about it, so told him to avoid answering if it rings again. My dad is on the TPS list too, so he shouldn’t be getting these calls at all. How do these calls still get through? Feels like they’re just pestering older people!

This morning, on the 16th of February, I received a call from a man whose accent seemed Asian. He went straight in asking if I could speak to the person registered on the line, to which I firmly responded no. He then requested to chat with someone named Mr, but again, I declined. His next threat was that they'd disable my calls, to which I replied that he could try, and promptly hung up. It’s quite appalling how these individuals target those who are easily deceived. I seem to be inundated with these pestering calls lately. Honestly, the Telephone Preference Service is utterly futile; I've been signed up for over 40 years and it hasn’t made a jot of difference!

It's always someone from Pakistan or India claiming they can stop unwanted calls, and I tell them straight up, YOU should stop calling ME first, can YOU block your own number? There's always a pause, then they carry on blabbering, so I just hang up. Another time, as soon as they asked for me (no idea how they got my name and address), I just said "hang on" and put the phone down next to me. I let it ring for a bit, probably so they could hear everything - quite funny really. They waste my time, so I waste theirs, lol.

Some guy with an Indian accent called me, claiming he worked for some marketing firm (didn't quite catch the company). He said he could stop all those annoying cold calls I keep getting. I just chuckled and asked if he was serious. When he asked why, I told him, "You’re trying to block cold calls, but you're one yourself?" I told him to do us both a favour and remove my number from his list, then I ended the call!

I recently received a call from an Indian individual who was masquerading as someone from the Telephone Preference Service, fishing for my credit card information and whatnot. It was blatantly obvious he was trying to pull a fast one, but I decided to humour him for a moment. I gave him my two cents, informing him that the whole TPS scheme is rather ineffective-if it were functioning properly, we wouldn't be bombarded with these dodgy calls in the first place, would we? Received a call today around 1:35 PM from something called the Call Preference Service. They claimed to be aware that I’ve been bombarded with nuisance calls. The caller had a foreign accent and seemed to have an unsettling amount of my personal details-my name, house name, and even the fact that I pay my phone bill via direct debit. They then transferred me to another individual who proceeded to ask for my card's expiry date. That’s when I decided enough was enough and hung up. I can’t help but wonder if this is linked to the call I received yesterday from another foreign-sounding person-I think they might have been Indian-who pretended to be from BT. They said my internet was about to be disconnected. I quickly realised it was a scam and told her I had no interest, to which she responded with some rather crude language before hanging up on me!

Absolutely appalling! This absolute lowlife conned my mother-in-law, who has a disability. They said they offered a fancy service to shield her from unwanted calls. Can you believe it? Cleared £30 from her account and then quickly swiped another £99 just moments later. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had their eye on even bigger amounts if we hadn’t acted swiftly to block her card. Truly despicable behaviour!

Spoke to an Indian woman who was really rude and pushy. She didn’t ask for money but scared a 98-year-old woman so much she ended up locking her door and skipping a community get-together. This woman said she was from a government supported firm working with the TPS. She refused to talk to me since I wasn’t the account holder for the phone, but mentioned some kind of update about loads of spam calls we've been getting. I don’t know who exactly gave her that update, and when I told her I’d be the one to report any nuisance calls, she hung up straight away. Didn’t even get the chance to hear about payments, but I got a feeling that was the next step!

I’ve just had a rather unpleasant phone call from them. Their tone took a turn for the worse and they made some really inappropriate comments, claiming they wanted to be with my daughter. Got a couple of calls yesterday from the same number. They wanted me to verify my name, address, and even how to spell my first name, but I didn't go along with it. They claimed they were partnered with the preference calling service to stop calls from abroad. When I asked if there was a payment involved, they said "no weekly, no monthly, no yearly fees, just a one-time registration charge." I wasn’t convinced, said right, cheers, and ended the call. Later on, they left a silent message on my voicemail.
