So this guy Joesph kept rambling on about how my Apple firewall was supposedly set to let everything through, making me an easy target for hackers and the like. After messin about with him for a while, I got fed up and he finally handed over a legit-sounding number to call if I wanted to check him out. Turns out it’s the actual Apple support line on 08000314014, anyone can look that up. Funny thing was, I told him I’ve got a full McAfee package all running fine, but he just brushed that off like it didn’t count or something. What a laugh that was.

I wasn’t around when the call came through. Like others have said, I kinda wish I caught them so I could’ve had a bit of fun. Unfortunately, I block all unknown numbers now, so guess I won’t be getting another chance.

Got a call from this number earlier but they hung up before I even could pick up. After seeing what others have said, I’m a bit annoyed they didn’t let me get a word in. Would’ve been quite amusing to turn the tables on them!

Got a call from some bloke in India saying my laptop was running slow. Well, not exactly breaking news, right? 22/10/2018 13:10 - Got a call from someone with an Indian accent who asked if I was at my computer. I told him no. He then started jabbering about some malware issue. When I asked what the call was about, he kept going on. I told him he should email or write a letter because I don’t handle tech stuff. Didn’t even know who he was representing. I ended the call and blocked the number on my phone system straight away.

He seemed really thrown off by my reaction and ended up getting all flustered and then just hung up. It's really worrying that folks like this target vulnerable people - is there any way to protect them from these scams?

At about 3:24 this afternoon, I got a phone call from this number. Pretty clear it was a call centre on the other end. They went on about my computer being full of viruses and all that rubbish. I just played along quietly, letting them go on for as long as possible until they finally twigged I was just mucking about. Honestly, their forebears would be totally embarrassed by the way they behave!
