I got two calls from the same number in one day, both voicemails saying they were from HMRC. The first time I rang back, they wanted me to pay a penalty of £1952 plus some other fees through my online bank. When I told them I only had £50 in my account, they just hung up on me. The second time I tried calling after their message, no one picked up at all. Honestly, it felt like a proper scam with how smoothly they worked - I ended up speaking to three different people during that first call.

I received a call from this number purporting to be from HMRC. It was an automated message, completely devoid of any human interaction, stating that a case has been opened against me and that I should return their call urgently as it was of utmost importance. Definitely a scam, and a rather dodgy one at that!
