Someone called asking to talk to the landline owner. I asked who that actually was, and he just kept saying he wanted to speak to the owner. I told him he should know who he’s calling and asked what it was about. He then said he could lower my landline rental costs. When I asked which company he was with, he just hung up. Got a call on 27th October around 2 in the afternoon. My answerphone picked up straight away, and the caller just hung up! Number looked like it was from Coventry when I looked it up. These scammers never speak if they hit an answerphone - makes no sense for them if they can’t trick someone directly. Honestly, when are the phone companies and the government going to step up and put an end to these fraudsters targeting elderly and vulnerable folks? Picked up the phone but no one said anything, then after about a minute they just disconnected. I keep getting calls from scammers pretending to be from Talk Talk, telling me to switch on my laptop. A mate got the same call and ended up turning on hers, which meant she had to pay £250 to fix the damage. Seems like this is one of those dodgy calls. Be careful!

A bloke called my 87 year old mother in law claiming to be from Virgin, trying to get her to sign up for a phone deal. We asked him three times if he really worked for Virgin and he kept saying yes. After about 10 minutes, he suddenly said he was actually from somewhere else. When I asked his name and told him I'd report him, he just hung up.

This number gave me a ring earlier. I didn’t answer, but I did try calling back with 1470 before it to hide my caller ID. The ringtone switched from a normal UK one to a weird foreign sound right away. Nobody came to the phone. Definitely seems like a total scam to me.
