Every day, I keep getting calls, texts, and even fake letters from scammers. It’s pretty frustrating because even when you report and block them, it never really stops - they just shift to calling other numbers. What’s worked for me though, is making a really loud whistle down the phone whenever they ring. I have to admit, it’s surprisingly effective! Whenever I get a call from a number I don’t recognise, I just let the voicemail pick it up. Most of the time, those scam people won’t bother leaving a message - probably because they’re not brave enough. Only the total muppets would actually talk to an answerphone!

I just got a call from this number on my home phone about loft insulation on 20th June 2023 around 11.20 am. I told them I suspected it was a scam, and the person replied they weren’t a robot, just following a script. I challenged them to say something off-script, and all they asked was if we should carry on. I ended the call there.

total insulation con. after a brief pause, you could tell they hit play on some robotic pre-recorded spiel. some bloke named “tom” supposedly works nearby and found out we still got the “fluffy white stuff” in our home (as if that’s common knowledge 🙄), and wanted to pop round to check if we fancy upgrading? proper weird. i kept quiet, no reply, then suddenly a different voice chimes in with “hello?” and after that the recording came back saying “sorry to hear that,” even though i hadn’t said a word lol.

Someone named Bill rang me, sounded like a newbie cold caller pretending to be a tradie. He was pushy about my loft insulation, saying it was way below par according to their records. Got a call from 02394352782 this morning at about 9 am. Then, yesterday at just after 8, 02394352783 rang me too. I don’t know either number, they left no voicemail, and they seem to be connected somehow. Checked them out here and turns out they’re probably telemarketers for loft insulation. I politely told her that I’m entirely sorted with insulation and boarding, just as I mentioned during her previous call. I requested that she refrain from calling me again.

I figured out who it was straight away by the accent and voice.
