Picked up the call
Left a voicemail. It’s abundantly obvious this is Mrs Press!

I believe the chap’s name was David Lewis, or something similar, though his accent definitely had an Indian tinge to it. He introduced himself as a senior technician representing Microsoft, but when I brought up the possibility that it was all a ruse, he got rather aggressive and warned me he'd incapacitate my computer. Quite the nerve!

Got a call around 8:45 this morning, but when I answered there was just silence. I said my name a couple of times, then there was a long pause. Just as I was about to hang up, I caught a robotic female voice say "goodbye". I’ve tried calling the number back a few times but can’t get through at all.

I keep getting calls from 02392162065, some of them pretty late at night. It's an Asian bloke saying there's an issue with my computer. Even after telling them to take me off their list, they just won’t stop ringing. It's really annoying having to deal with it over and over again.

Got a call from someone saying they were Microsoft, but the American accent was off and the voice super dull almost right away. Honestly, my tip is to never share any details over the phone and definitely don’t let them access your PC. Microsoft’s a huge company, so they really should do more to stop these random cold calls.

This bloke called William phoned me and asked me to switch on my computer. I told him I don’t have one. Then he started going on about how because I’m listed as a Microsoft user, I’d be arrested tomorrow and thrown in jail!

So this morning around 7.40, I got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Microsoft’s IT support. The call came through on 01383933998. Since my mum’s been getting similar calls lately, I recognised the scam right away and just told him off rather brusquely before hanging up. I’ve now blocked that number on my home phone straight away.

Got a call on the house phone this morning at about 8:45 from someone with a very American accent, saying they were from Microsoft and wanted to talk about my computer’s security. I wasn’t fooled for a second and just hung up. Total scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call on my home phone from 02392162065, some bloke said he was from Microsoft and there was an issue with my computer. After a bit of quiet, a guy with an Asian accent calling himself "Brian" answered, then there was this weird click sound. I just laughed, said "No thanks," and hung up straightaway.

There was a man on the other end who didn’t hang up, so I couldn’t get off the phone. He just kept repeating “hello” over and over. When I finally got off, I tried calling back but no luck getting through.

So, this morning around half past nine I got a call again. Normally I'd just tell them to jog on, but today I felt like having a bit of fun. I asked them which one of my seven computers was hacked! They started talking about my internet being compromised and some Microsoft virus or whatever. Playing along, I panicked and said, "Are you saying the hackers broke through my Linux proxy server and firewall into my whole network?" That left them really confused. I couldn’t stop laughing on my end. Eventually, I told him to find someone else to bother!

Another wasted call that just eats up time. It’s like this mate of mine who ended up chatting away about how to set his microwave, all because he thought it had a virus or something. Quite daft really.

Typical scam call. At first, some so-called Microsoft technician was going on about virus traffic coming from my Windows computer. I told them I'm actually using a MacBook, and then they switched me over to their "Apple specialist". This guy tried really hard to get me to sit by my laptop and follow instructions, but I wasn’t having any of it.

This number rang me up with someone speaking with an Asian accent, saying they were from Microsoft. I told them I used Linux instead, but they didn't believe me. Then there was a pause and some noise like papers being shuffled. Out of nowhere, they asked if I had a girlfriend. I wondered why that even mattered, and they said it was very important! I questioned how my relationship status was connected to Microsoft support. Just as I was about to see if they could help me update my system, the line went dead. Bit of a shame, really.

Got a couple of calls from this number over the past few weeks, claiming to be from BT Openreach about some supposed antivirus problems with my internet. The first time, the woman said it was her maiden shift and admitted it was a dodgy call - that was pretty unusual for a scammer to admit straight up! The second time, the bloke was quite pushy and only ended the call once I told him I’m involved in cyber crime work and asked him to wait while I rang Openreach to verify who he was and tracked where he was calling from.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be with Microsoft, said he was from somewhere in Reading. He told me my Microsoft software had been compromised. I told him I only use an Apple device, no Microsoft on it at all. Then he passed me over to his 'manager', who threatened, “if you mess with me, I’ll f##k you up and make you bleed!” Absolutely nuts. I just laughed my head off before he suddenly cut the call.

This number just rang me up claiming to be from Microsoft, saying I'd got some kind of malware on my PC. The bloke asked me to grab my computer's serial number so he could sort it out. I told him nah, no bother - I'll just get a new laptop instead!

Got a call today around 9.48am from someone claiming there was an issue with my Microsoft software. I told them I don’t use Microsoft but Linux instead, and they quickly changed their story saying it wasn’t about Microsoft but my internet instead. Then they went on about some threat to my computer if I didn’t switch it on right away. The funny thing is, I was already sat at my computer during the call. Totally a scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, said they were from Reading and there was an issue with my PC. They gave an engineer name as "Steve Smit" which sounded totally made up, plus gave a dodgy employee number. When I started asking questions, they just hung up straight away. The background noise was loud and it definitely didn’t sound like Microsoft at all. The number they called from is actually based in Portsmouth, so nothing to do with Reading or Microsoft.

Got a call today at 10:43 from someone claiming to be "Robin at Microsoft Corp". Yeah, right!! Microsoft has repeatedly stated they don’t phone you like this. IT’S A SCAM, no doubt about it!!! These calls don’t actually come from the UK but from abroad, using VOIP - basically internet calls that show a UK number to seem legit. Doesn’t take much skill and they want you to think it’s local. Don’t bother answering, just hang up and go about your day. Cheers, Bilbo Baggins
