7 yearsI missed the call that came through on 7th July (not sure if it was 2019) around 10:15 in the morning, so I have no clue what it was about.8 yearsToday, I received a rather suspicious call from this number purporting to be from Virgin Media. The caller mentioned a recent visit from a technician-something that actually took place just a few days ago-making their claims all the more believable! They went on about issues with my broadband, suggesting it was due to hacking, file corruption, and even identity fraud! The caller wanted me to log on and follow various instructions to resolve this alleged issue. I wasn’t convinced in the slightest and suggested I would check with Virgin directly. Suddenly, he told me to inquire about my DLM settings and then hung up without another word. Unsurprisingly, when I contacted Virgin, they informed me there was no problem at all; it was merely a bothersome call. HP, Bristol.Virgin MediaVirginHPBristol8 yearsGot a call that ended almost straight away - just stopped the call. Seems like they might keep going if they think they're talking to a woman or someone older.8 yearsI got a call from someone saying they were with Virgin about issues with my broadband. The connection was really bad, and the person sounded like they had a thick Eastern accent.Virgin8 yearsGot a call from someone called Mark with a strong Indian accent. He said he was ringing from BT about some 'Broadband Issue' or something like that.MarkBT8 yearsI got a call from a guy with a thick Indian accent claiming he was Mark from "BT - British Telecom," which I thought was strange since BT hasn't used that name in ages! I mentioned that the number on my caller ID didn't match the usual one BT uses, and I had a feeling he was trying to scam me. After I said that, he just said "Alright" and ended the call.MarkBT — British TelecomBT8 yearsA chap with a thick Indian accent introduced himself as Mark, claiming to be calling from "BT - British Telecom". Mind you, that name hasn't been in use for yonks! I pointed out that the number flashing on my caller ID wasn't the usual one you get when BT rings you up, and I had a sneaking suspicion he was up to no good. He simply replied with an "OK" and then disconnected the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!MarkBT - British TelecomBT8 yearsI got a call from 02392161042, they said they were from BT but I don’t believe them! They were trying to get me to change stuff on my router. Definately not legit!BT8 yearsI just picked up my landline when this number rang and there was nothing but silence. Probably they’ll ring again, so it’s good to see the comments here beforehand.8 yearsGot a call with no one talking on the other end, so I’ve gone ahead and filed a complaint with Ofcom.Ofcom8 yearsGot a call on Friday around 11.30 in the morning from a bloke with an Indian accent saying he was from BT's tech team. Started going on about some complicated internet problems, even though my connection was fine. I told him I wasn’t having any issues and ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam to me.BT8 yearsI didn't get any voicemail or text from that number, just a missed call. Pretty weird.8 yearsThe phone kept ringing so I went and looked up the number on here. When I finally picked up, I told them it was the 'Talktalk Fraud and Scam Dept'. They didn’t sound too happy about that, haha!8 yearsThis number wont stop ringing me, I thought I had blocked it back on 7/8 like I noted here, and I did, but now its calling every single day and even tho my phone says its blocked it still rings through!!! How’s that even possible? Have they figured out how to get past the block? Seriously, I’m moving this warning from annoying to actually threatening!8 yearsThere was no sound at all. It showed it was an International call, but then the phone number was actually from the UK.UK8 yearsI got a call from someone who flat out refused to explain why they were ringing me. No clear reason or sensible answer at all.8 yearsThere was no sound at all, just silence until I said who I was, and then after a good few seconds, they just ended the call. Definitely seems like a scam to me. What baffles me is why OFTEL doesn’t keep an eye on these types of calls and put a stop to them. I’m guessing these scammers must still be paying their phone bills somehow, so someone’s profiting from this to keep it going. That feels like someone helping them out, especially since OFTEL have already been told about it. Cheers.OFTEL8 yearsThanks for this site, it’s really handy and puts my mind at ease. I had a scam call from Portsmouth too, just like others mentioned, so I blocked the number straight away. They keep switching things up and even pretend to be from my own local area code. The people behind it are awful, but I guess the poor folks making the calls don’t even know what they’re doing.Portsmouth8 yearsGot a quiet call at 10:37, no one said anything.8 yearsI answered but said nothing, the person on the other end stayed silent too and then just ended the call.8 yearsI got a call from this number, and with Call Guardian, they normally ask you to say your name and then hit the pound key before they connect you. This time, they didn’t do that, so I’m gonna block it now.Call Guardian8 yearsthere was this guy on the phone with a thick indian accent, barely understandable. he started off askin for me by name but i said nothing. then he goes, "the account holder, isn't it?" i was like, "what account?" he answers, "the bt broadband one." i tell him, "we don’t have bt broadband." then he quickly changes to "no no, vt - virgin broadband, right?" getting a bit annoyed, i said, "just decide already!" and then he just hung up. silly.BTVirgin8 yearsGot a call from 02392161042, a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT. I asked if she had my BT account number to prove who she was, and then she just hung up on me. Seems like something’s wrong with BT’s Indian call centre or whoever’s behind this. How on earth do they know my name? BT should really look into this.BT8 yearsGot a call earlier from someone with an overseas accent saying they were from BT and that there was an issue with my line. They tried to get me to let them access my computer. When I asked them for my BT account number to prove they were legit, they just dropped the call. Definitely a scam, so best just to hang up straight away or don’t pick up at all.BT8 yearsGot a call from 02392 161042, some foreign lady claiming to be from BT Openworld talking about an issue I supposedly had. Before she could say more, I let out a loud whistle right into the phone. She didn’t hang about after that and ended the call quick smart. Honestly, buy a cheap whistle and keep it near your phone - they never stick around when you do that! Give it a go.BT Openworld8 yearsA woman rang me claiming she was a BT engineer and said there was a problem with my router. She kept insisting that I switch on my computer, but I refused. Then she wanted to ring me back, but I told her I’d be the one calling. Definitely a spam call.8 yearsI received a rather puzzling call from an individual with a heavy accent who claimed to be inquiring about my internet service. To be honest, my broadband is perfectly fine, so it's evident this is a scam phone call, or perhaps even a ring of scammers!8 yearsGot a call from a guy, sounded asian, claiming to be from talktalk. He said there was an issue with my router being set to the wrong channel and that changing it would boost my internet speed. I told him straight away I don’t have a talktalk account, just an email registered with them. He seemed to know that, but when I said I wasn’t a customer anymore he just hung up on me. Pretty obvious scammer trying to sneak into your router to steal info. Watch out for these types!8 yearsI haven’t a clue who this number belongs to, so I just let it ring if I don’t recognise it.8 yearsMy call blocker caught this number, but recently ive been getting tons of calls like this. They pop up from all over the globe for a week or so then vanish for some time. It’s like they’re linked somehow. You’d expect these clueless annoyances to realise I never pick up!8 yearsGot a call from this number but all was quiet on the other end. Better off ignoring it, honestly.8 yearsanyone know who this is?8 yearsClaims to be from the BT Broadband office in Wood Green. Clearly a con artist... Stay vigilant!BT BroadbandWood Green8 yearsthis guy spoke super fast and claimed he was calling from bt broadband about an issue with my internet. he said he could fix it but i’m pretty sure it was a scam. the account number he gave didn’t match anything, and he got annoyed when i tried to ask him some security questions. i told him to ring me later once he’d fixed his own mistakes!BT Broadband8 yearsThis number has called me twice in the last four days, both times just silence on the line.8 yearsI had no clue what on earth they were trying to say, their English was absolute rubbish. The only thing I caught was something about channel 552, but what that means, beats me. I just ended the call and wondered why any firm would hire someone who can barely speak properly. Or maybe it was just a scam. Honestly, I enjoy leaving them on hold, just to mess about and waste their time and cash. Now I've blocked them, along with all those scam numbers, so they can't ring me again.Submit Your Own Report (023 9216 1042)
