I wonder what these scammers actually gain from it. Are they just after our personal info to sell on or something?

It seems there’s a bit of bother going on with my property being under watch, and I’ve been advised to ring back straight away. I suspect it’s a right dodgy scam as the number’s not even in service when I try to return the call. Furthermore, the alternate number left in the voicemail is picked up by someone quite suspicious.

I just got a dodgy call from someone saying they were from HMRC and that I had a lawsuit against me. They told me to press 1 so I could talk to a caseworker and sort out the payment straight away. Just a heads up, this is definitely a scam - don’t even think about pressing anything, just hang up right away. The real HMRC wouldn’t do that at all.

Got a few robo calls telling me HMRC was taking me to court and that I could lose my house. Totally fake. Don’t even answer, just block and get on with things.

someone kept ringing me up claiming to be from the tax fraud department, threatening to involve the police and freeze my bank accounts if i didn't pay up over some tax issue from years ago, 2012 to be exact. the guy was asian and his english was really hard to understand, he wouldnt let me say anything at all. i got really annoyed and cut the call short. glad i did because it felt like he was just trying to frighten me into handing over £785!

Got a robo-call saying my house is being watched and that I’m facing legal action or something. Didn’t hang about, just blocked the number straight away.

Got a robo call claiming to be from HMRC customs, said I’m some kind of suspect and facing prosecution. They also told me my house is being watched. The message said to ring them back but I didn’t end the call right away - could hear loads of voices like it was a busy call centre or somethin in the background. I’ve blocked the number and I’m going to report it to the police.

I picked up the phone and there was this recorded message saying some legal action had been taken against my property. They gave a phone number to call back, but it was said so quickly I didn’t catch it at all.

I didn’t pick up, but then got a weird voicemail from an automated voice saying HMRC is going after me and my property’s gonna be taken (which is a rented flat btw). I’d say best to just ignore any calls from this number.

I got this weird automated call claiming there’s some lawsuit against me and that they’re watching my house or something. Totally freaked me out at first!

I didn't pick up cause I didn't recognise the number. Later got an automated message saying I'm facing some prosecution and that my home is being watched. Weird stuff, so I just blocked the number.
