Got a call from someone claiming to be with Octopus Energy, saying we’d been charged too much because our meter reading was apparently from the wrong postcode. When I asked a few questions the bloke got really annoyed. We ended up hanging up and then they rang back again. I checked with Octopus Energy myself and they confirmed it wasn’t them.

Got a call from a woman with a thick accent saying she's from our energy company. When I asked her for our Supplier Number to check, she didn’t have it. She’s called me three times within about five minutes, which was pretty suspicious.

I checked with BG and they said loads of others have had the same call. It’s clearly a scam. I don’t understand how this kind of thing is still allowed. The calls definitely aren’t originating from the UK. I just worry that more vulnerable folks might get caught out by this.

There was loads of noise in the background, like a hectic office, and as others have said, he told me they’d got the postcode wrong on the bills and needed to confirm some details. I ended up giving him the invoice addresses, account number, MPAN number and even the contract dates. But after a while, I got really fed up and, questioning why he was calling in the first place, I just ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Scottish Power’s metering team again. Honestly, I’ve lost count how many times this exact caller has phoned, maybe the third or even fifth time now.
