I've been receiving countless calls all day from this unknown number, and there’s never anyone on the other end! It's getting to the point where I'm seriously contemplating ditching my phone altogether. This relentless spamming is absolutely driving me up the wall!

I was sitting tight, anticipating an update on my estimated bill after promptly calling British Gas to provide them with my correct meter reading. Suddenly, I found myself on the line with someone whose accent was quite thick, who insisted I needed to make an immediate payment via debit card, or I’d be hit with extra fees. Honestly, his command of English was so lacking that I could barely make out “British Gas” in his first two words. I'm nearly convinced this was a scam.

I've received numerous ongoing calls from this number, with each caller sporting a strong foreign accent and their command of English leaving much to be desired. They’re keen to extract information from me but are rather cagey about the purpose of their calls. I always respond to them with, "How can I trust that you are who you claim to be?" Despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, they seem completely oblivious to it. After I posed my previous question, one individual hung up, whereas the most recent caller became quite hostile, telling me to “shut up” when I inquired about their knowledge of TPS before abruptly terminating the call. If these callers are indeed affiliated with British Gas, then there are serious problems within their organisation, and there's no way I'm handing over any of my details to such individuals!
