9 yearsThey messaged me threatening legal action because I supposedly hadn’t paid for some stuff. They even played back a recording, which they’d somehow recorded earlier, where they claimed I gave permission for orders I never made. They sent fake emails too, with wrong delivery info at the top but then the right details about me further down - pretty sneaky. Don’t open those emails or click any links! I didn’t, and instead forwarded the unopened email straight to Action Fraud UK (City of London Police) and also informed my bank's fraud team.Action Fraud UKCity of LondonPolice9 yearsWatch out for this one. I got a call with loads of noise in the background and someone with an Asian accent asked if I could hear them, so I said yeah. I was waiting for an important call so I picked up thinking it was that, but then the person said they were from Microsoft, so I just hung up straight away. The day after, our local newspaper shared a story from the Police Authority warning about a scam where the caller asks if you can hear them, and the police say the best thing is to just not answer and hang up.MicrosoftPolice Authority9 yearsSo basically, if you say yes on a call, your voice gets recorded electronically. After that, you might start getting scam emails telling you about purchases you supposedly made. If you question the email, and you click any link (which you really shouldn’t), they’ll play back a clip of you saying yes to different orders. It's all pretty sneaky and scary, so watch out and don’t open those emails or click anything.9 yearsIf you ever say yes on a call, they can record your voice digitally and later send you scam emails about things you supposedly bought. Now, if you question these messages, and, I advise you not to click any links in those emails, they might play back your own voice saying yes to all these fake orders. It's a sneaky trick I wouldn’t fall for.9 yearsToday I got a call from this number. I asked the bloke twice where he was calling from cause I couldn't catch it, and he told me to fuck off three times! He said his name was Albert and claimed he was ringing about my Microsoft computer.AlbertMicrosoft9 yearsI got a call from 02356497987 from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, saying they needed to access my computer remotely. Absolutely do not trust it, it's a total scam!!!Microsoft9 yearsGot calls from some guy saying his name was Alex Smith, talking about issues with Microsoft Windows. Pretty funny since I don’t have any Windows devices at all. They ring me up roughly every 10 minutes, like 3 or 4 times throughout the day. I just leave it, don’t bother answering, and he never leaves a voicemail either. Honestly, it’s just really annoying. BT, seriously, we need some proper measures to stop these pest calls!Alex SmithBT9 yearsThis number rang me three times on my work phone. When I finally picked up, a guy named Kenneth was asking about my computer. He wanted to know if I was the primary user, but when I asked him what it was all regarding, he just ended the call. Bit weird, really.Kenneth9 yearsSome bloke rang me up claiming he was from Microsoft, talking about my computer. I told him I don’t even own one, and then he just hung up on me.Microsoft9 yearsPhoned me earlier but then abruptly disconnected the call.9 yearsGot a call from this number, they left some robotic message claiming to be HMRC, saying the tax office is taking me to court and I need to ring back immediately. Absolute rubbish if you ask me. How on earth do these scammy people evade consequences? There should be proper laws with real jail time for these types. I’d totally support that. It’s just plain scary and such unwelcome harassment!!!!!!HMRC9 yearsI received a rather boisterous call from a chap claiming to be with Microsoft, insisting he required access to my computer due to some supposed error alerts. It didn’t take long for me to realise I was dealing with a scam. This is precisely what’s referred to as the "Ctrl Windows key + R" con. Once they’ve infiltrated your system, they can snatch all your personal details and then wipe your hard drive clean to erase any evidence. Do yourself a favour - block the number and hang up promptly!Microsoft9 yearsI'm receiving calls from this number four times daily. I picked up once, only to be greeted by dead air on the other side. It's becoming increasingly frustrating to have to deal with these daily disturbances.9 yearsGot a call earlier today from this number, some bloke claiming my PC was downloading nasty stuff that would ruin it. He said he worked for Microsoft and my Windows was in danger. I hung around for a bit, but once he asked if I was near my computer so he could fix it remotely, I got fed up with the rubbish and told him to pass the message along to someone who actually owns a Microsoft device - which I don’t. He instantly hung up on me.Microsoft9 yearsReceived a call on this number earlier today. The chap on the line claimed to be from Microsoft and was asking me to perform some tasks on my computer. I told him I couldn’t help at the moment as I was occupied. Then he started prying about which bank I use. Absolutely no chance I was going to divulge any information, so I just kept him chatting until he eventually hung up.Microsoft9 yearsI picked up the phone but there was nothing but silence on the other end before the person abruptly ended the call.9 yearsThis morning alone, this number has rung me twice, and I've been getting a fair few calls from withheld numbers over the past few days. It’s quite frustrating, and I reckon they should be reported to Action Fraud, as they seem to be up to no good. What baffles me is why they cut the call as soon as it’s picked up. I've started keeping a detailed record of these calls; who knows, it might come in handy for legal purposes down the line.Action Fraud9 yearsIf I leave the phone line open once they've hung up, will that rack up any charges for them?9 yearsGot a call from 02356497987 at about 8:45 this morning. This is like the third or fourth time this week alone, and I’m seriously sick of it, not to mention all the other calls I get that are just dead silence. When you pick up, you can hear people talking in the background but then they hang up right away. Why doesn’t BT do something to block these numbers? This has been going on for ages now.9 yearsFor weeks now, I've been getting calls two or three times daily, without fail. The first time I picked up, I asked the bloke to remove me from their list, but he just said no and told me he'd keep ringing me. What a muppet! Seriously, why isn’t there anything that can be done to put an end to these idiots?9 yearsOver the last few days, this number kept ringing me, nearly 20 times missed calls, so I finally picked up. A guy started saying he was from Windows support and had this wild story about my PC being packed with viruses or some malware. He then asked to remotely access my laptop. I told him straight I didn’t believe him and that I'm actually a cop, and without a word of farewell, he just ended the call. Either Microsoft’s support team has gone downhill or this was someone trying to mess with my computer.Microsoft9 yearsI've received four calls from this number today. Each time I answered, there was nothing but silence, followed by the line disconnecting. A couple of weeks back, I dealt with a dodgy Microsoft support call, so I'm beginning to suspect these might be the same con artists trying their luck again.Microsoft9 yearsThey keep ringing non stop. The moment my answer machine picks up, they just cut off. Honestly, I'm so done with it now.9 yearsTotal rip off! They've rung my old folks three times already. The people on the line sounded Indian and were trying to con them into handing over bank, credit, or debit card info by claiming there are fake viruses on their computers. They keep saying they're with Microsoft or something like that.Microsoft9 yearsI’ve been ignoring these calls for a while now since they seem to be coming more and more often. Honestly, it’s about time someone put a stop to these scammers.9 yearsGot a call from this bloke today, and instead of trying to pitch me something, he just went on a complete tirade, swearing and being downright rude for a good 10 minutes. I left him on the line because I didn’t want him bothering anyone else. Proper unpleasant character, honestly.9 yearsToday I got a call from this number, not long after I had another weird call from a different one. Lately, I've started a trick where I answer the phone but stay silent, just waiting to see if the caller says anything. Turns out, these shady numbers usually just drop the call if you don't speak first. I reckon the scammers use some sort of auto-dialer that only connects you fully if they hear you talk. Thought I'd share this in case it helps anyone else.9 yearsSome bloke called me saying his name was Alex and that he was ringing about windows. The connection was awful, so I kept telling him I couldn’t hear properly. Then he tried me back loads of times from different numbers, clearly trying to sweet-talk info out of me. You’d expect these scammers to invest in a decent phone line, but I reckon they’re nicking coms from somewhere else so they can’t be tracked. Numbers with Northern Ireland codes seem to be a favourite for them!AlexNorthern Ireland9 yearsSince yesterday, I've been flooded with scam calls from three different numbers. This last one was the most recent. I played along for a bit before warning him I was contacting the police to track the call. He quickly turned nasty, started swearing, and then just ended the call. Hopefully, he gets what’s coming to him.9 yearsI got a call around midday from someone claiming to be from Windows, saying there were serious issues with my PC. Be careful!MicrosoftIndia9 yearsA bunch of con artists, if you ask me. When I mentioned involving the police, he became all mouthy on the line. What a bunch of dimwits!9 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were with the Windows team. Total scam, don’t trust it!9 yearsSounds like they’re fishing for your bank info and all that stuff.9 yearsFor the last couple of days, our office has been getting calls from people claiming to be Microsoft. They say they need to get into the user's computer. I just tell them I’m waiting for my PC to start up, then leave the phone beside me and keep with my work.Microsoft9 yearsGot a call from this number just now, and the bloke was telling me my computer was getting a virus downloaded or something. Pretty soon I clocked it was a scam, so I played along for a bit. I acted like I was doing what he said, without actually touching my PC, obviously. Then when he asked what I was seeing on the screen, I said nothing at all. That set him off proper bad - it ended with him shouting loads of swear words and threats! Honestly, don’t pick up if this number rings you.9 yearsWhen I answered the phone, there was nothing but silence. Not long after, I received a call from someone named Victor, claiming to be from Windows support, insisting there was an issue with my computer. I immediately recognised this as a scam and wisely chose to ignore his directives regarding my computer. The number appeared as unknown when I checked with 1471, and it definitely came through shortly after the previous call.Victor9 yearsFor the past week, I've been getting calls from this number around 8:20 every morning. Today was the first time I picked up and just croaked a quick 'hello'. There was no sound at all, just dead silence, then it hung up after about 5 seconds. Seeing the reviews here reminded me that a few weeks back I once answered during the afternoon and it was someone with an Indian accent talking about Microsoft, so I ended the call straight away. They’re definitely shady, and honestly, it’s really irritating.IndiaMicrosoft9 yearsThey keep ringing me up - today the voice was all muffled like they were calling from underwater or something. I couldn’t make out a single word, so I asked who it was but couldn’t hear a thing, then just ended the call. Total rubbish call, so I gave them a taste of their own medicine. It’s raining cats and dogs here in the UK, maybe that’s messing with their signal or maybe it’s some sort of monsoon where they’re calling from?? Weird!UK9 yearsAvoid these people, it's a total con trick. They come up with some nonsense about malware from Microsoft and try to hack into your computer. Best thing is to notify the police about them.Microsoft9 yearsI've received three calls from this number in the past week. Every time, I've made it clear that I'm not interested. During the latest call, I requested him to verify my name, and he mistakenly called me Sheila! That's definitely not right. He then just terminated the call.Sheila9 yearsDefinitely steer clear of these folks, it's gotta be a scam for sure. No question about it.Steer9 yearsI picked up the phone and caught some noise in the background. I said hello a couple of times but got no response and then the call just ended.9 yearsGot a call from some guy who said his name was Peter, claiming it was about my computer. I told him I don't even have one, and he just hung up on me. This has happened twice in just two days now.Peter9 yearsThis week, we've received a couple of phone calls claiming to be from TechDepartments, reaching out concerning our computer issues.9 yearsI got a call earlier this morning around 8.30 and then, annoyingly, they rang me back at 2 in the afternoon! This time my husband picked up, but the caller just mumbled a few words before hanging up immediately! I looked up the area code and it’s from Maharashtra, India. It’s so infuriating not being able to say anything back since they just drop the line! Feels like proper harassment. Has anyone reported this sort of thing to Ofcom before?MaharashtraIndiaOfcom9 yearsGot a call from some Asian call centre bloke saying he was from Microsoft. I kept him chatting for like ten minutes, then he suddenly told me to f#ck off and slammed the phone down.Microsoft9 yearsGot a call around half past eight today. I answered and the bloke just said good morning with an Asian accent, then hung up straight away. What’s the point in ringing if you’re just gonna drop the call? I could hear loads of chatter and noise behind him, like a whole call centre going on. Seems like they’re hoping you ring back on some expensive number. I’m on the TPS but I reckon these scammers just have a list of random numbers and keep dialing them one after another.9 yearsFor the past couple of months, I swear this number has been blowing up my phone nearly every single day. It’s really wearing me out. Instead of snapping at them, I decided to answer the phone the 6th time in a day but spoke to them in Welsh, not English. They hung up straight away and I didn’t hear from them again for almost three weeks. Of course, now they’re back at it again. I honestly don’t get how people stand this nonsense. These scammers are the worst.9 yearsBeware of this number, as it's a dodgy scam! They were attempting to extract sensitive information from my computer. Honestly, just hang up on them! They’ll feign being from Microsoft, but it's all a ruse to breach your security. Stay vigilant!Microsoft9 yearsIt was pretty obvious this call came from somewhere like India, judging by the accent. He started with a "how are you today?" I answered back with "who’s this?" (I'm on the do-not-call list and my number's ex-directory). Then he went on about my computer needing attention or something. I just told him to buzz off and hung up. Sorted!IndiaTPS9 yearsReceived a call earlier today. When I picked up, there was an actual individual on the line (not some robotic system) saying "Hello?
