They called me again, claiming to be from BT, saying my internet was compromised. It was an Indian woman this time, then she passed me onto her manager, another Indian guy. I told them straight up I wasn’t going to sit at my computer and said they were just trying to scam me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, telling me my internet had been cut off for three weeks. Then they handed me over to a “supervisor” who wanted to control my computer. Seriously, how daft do they reckon I am?

I just told them I don’t use BT for my internet!

Had a very bad connection, nothing like what I’d think BT would have even though the bloke said it was them. When I asked where he was calling from, he gave me a BT number. I asked him to ring me later so I could check, then looked up the number online with 1471 and found out it’s linked to scams. He called again and I straight up told him he was trying to scam me.

Had a call from someone claiming to be BT, saying my internet was being hacked by a bloke in Manchester and they needed to remote access my PC to sort it out (yeah right). My company’s pretty big, around 600 staff, and they managed to ring me directly on my IT manager line, classic! Honestly, don’t fall for it, just ditch the call straight away.

Beware of a scam where they pretend to be from BT internet, trying to convince you to let them set up remote access. It’s definitely a hoax!

Got a call from a bloke pretending to be BT, saying our internet was being misused by a third party. As a sysadmin, I found it quite amusing. He went all techie, mentioning the event viewer, then tried to push me towards some Danish (.dk) website. I told him anyone could slap a BT logo on a webpage and I wasn’t falling for it. Asked him to give me a proper BT[###] address, but he got all flustered and just hung up. I’ve now marked him as a Hoax caller in our company contacts, just in case he rings back.

Got a call from some guy claiming he was with BT checking on an internet issue. I let him go on for a bit, then stopped him with “this has gotta be a scam, right?” His reply? “F..k off” and he hung up on me. Lovely chap. Honestly had me laughing though. They’re after remote access to your PC to grab your info, so seriously, just hang up and don’t trust them!

TOTAL RIPOFF!

Got a call from someone named Anthony, sounded South Indian, using number 02347694458. He claimed he was with BT and asked me to install some software from www[###]web1.tk that would supposedly let him get into my PC. I asked for a number I could ring back on to confirm he genuinely worked for BT. He gave me 02032761784. When I called that, a woman answered but spoke so quietly I couldn’t catch what she said, she also wouldn’t say which firm I’d reached and insisted on getting my phone number first before revealing anything. Very fishy if you ask me.

Got a call from a woman with a heavy foreign accent, claiming she was from BT, warning me my internet connection wasn’t safe and hackers were using their servers. She wanted me to visit a specific website and asked what kind of computer and internet I had. When I started questioning if she was really from BT, she got quite defensive. Then I got put through to two more people with similar accents, trying to push the same story. I just told them if there was a problem with my connection, I’d contact my broadband provider myself - and thankfully it wasn’t BT!

I got this bloke from BT trying to pull a scam on me, right? When I said no way to him deleting stuff from the event viewer, he started shouting at me. I wasn't having any of it, so I shouted back. Ended up messing around with him for about 30 minutes before I told him we run an IT firm. Suddenly, he just cut the call. Proper rude behaviour!

Had a call from a lady with a foreign accent saying she was from BT's tech team, telling me my internet would be out of action for 3 months. I probably sounded a bit too sure of myself - we actually don't use BT - and when I asked what they planned to do about it, she just ended the call. If you do have BT, watch out!

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT about my internet, definitely a scam! Never click on any links or download stuff from calls you weren’t expecting. If your internet acts up, just ring your provider straight away. And don’t put up with annoying calls - tell them to buzz off, swear if you must! Free Of Charge? More like full of crap!

So this bloke rings up saying he’s from BT and that my internet’s been compromised. I asked him for my account number to prove he was legit. Instead of giving the right one, he just rattled off some random digits. I didn’t hang about and just ended the call.

This was definitely a scam, don’t trust what they say.

So, got a call saying it's from BT warning that my internet's going to be cut off, supposedly. This is the second time in a couple weeks they've called with the same story. Didn't bother checking where the first call was from.
