Got a call this morning, but being 74 and quite frail, I couldn’t reach the phone in time. I tried redialling but was told the number doesn’t exist! Bit odd, right? So I couldn’t return their call. I’ve now blocked the number using my Call Safe device, which blocks unwanted calls. Honestly, I’d recommend it - it’s a tiny gadget, one off payment, no ongoing fees. Check it out online if you’re fed up with dodgy calls.

The caller claimed to be from Sky, talking about a refund supposedly owed to me. When I inquired about the timeframe for the alleged overpayment, they couldn't provide any clear answers. I decided to toy with them a bit, and when they started asking for my bank details, I revealed that I hadn't been a Sky subscriber for more than five years. They quickly ended the call after that.

I recently received a rather dubious call from 0220202020, claiming to represent Sky and inquiring about my bank information. Naturally, I refused to provide any details. Concerned, I decided to ring Sky directly to verify the legitimacy of the call, and as I suspected, it was a complete scam. Those unscrupulous individuals are certainly up to no good! Received a call from this number today, purporting to be from Sky. They mentioned I was eligible for a refund due to an overpayment. All they needed were my bank details to process the refund... how suspicious!

Classic pests looking for a quick payday by fooling honest folks. Rang from 12-1-17 claiming a Sky refund. The tosser already had my name and address but then asked for my DOB. When I said I'd call back with that info, they just cut the line. Tried ringing them back but the number wasn’ even in service.

Someone called claiming to be from the Sky refund team and asked for my bank info. I told them I thought it was a scam and demanded to speak to a supervisor. Then a different person answered, using exactly the same spiel. They are clearly trying to fish out bank details to steal money.

A bloke called 'John' rang me up claiming he was from Sky and said I was owed a refund. He tried to get my bank card info and even mentioned the last four digits of my card. I didn’t give him any more details, told him if he was legit Sky he’d already have my info and could sort the refund without me telling him anything. He said he didn’t have my full details but said I could ring and check after I gave him my card info. I said no way, and eventually he twigged I wasn’t biting and ended the call.

About twenty minutes back, I received a rather peculiar telephone call from someone claiming to be a government official. He rattled on about having a cheque for me-sounded like quite a hefty sum too-and insisted that my bank was the one responsible for this windfall. He then began probing me for my address details, despite having them in front of him, asserting that he needed to verify my identity. I shot back that if he was truly from the government, he ought to know exactly who he was speaking to. He then switched gears, saying he’d send over the cheque and wanted to know which bank I preferred for the deposit. At that point, I cheekily responded that he could find a bank when pigs started flying past my lounge window, and promptly ended the call.

It's definitely a con... and a rather clever one at that. They had my Sky information, which made me believe they were on the level. Then, out of the blue, they claimed I was entitled to a redundancy payment...

Got a call from someone claiming to be Windows support. Got really annoyed when I asked them to verify my name but they couldn’t. Then I asked why Windows would have data about Mac devices anyway? (Funny part is, I don’t even own a laptop at the moment - mine just broke!)

Got a call from an Asian woman warning me my computer would be shut down the next day. She passed me onto a couple more colleagues who repeated the same nonsense. They wanted me to change some settings to let them access my computer through [#]teamview, which obviously would've given them control. Luckily, I baulked at the last minute. It all felt like those cheesy ‘guru’ help lines that promise free support. Honestly, it left me feeling a bit daft. Why don’t they just find proper jobs instead of scamming folks?

Got a call from Edward at Talk Talk early this morning, around 7, asking me to switch on my computer. I said no. We went back and forth a bit. He told me to ring 02031291097 before 4.40. I didn’t bother. Definitely a scam. Don’t fall for it.

Got a call today from someone pretending to be from TalkTalk, claiming there was an issue with our internet - which is actually right! They asked if I could log onto my computer, but I said I was about to leave. Then they told me to ring 0203 129 1097 and ask for a guy named Tom Henry to sort it out later. He had a pretty thick foreign accent! If I hadn’t already been suspicious, the fact they said I’d speak to the same person at the call centre just made it sound even more fishy.

Received a call earlier today, and the individual on the other end inquired about her. I replied, “She’s not around.” To which he bluntly stated, “She’s passed away.” I quickly corrected him, “That’s not true, I just saw her.” When he asked, “When was that?” I replied, “Just an hour ago.” Then he informed me, “She actually passed away half an hour ago.” That’s a rather alarming sort of call to receive, and it could certainly send anyone into a tailspin of worry.

This number has been ringing me perhaps two or three times weekly for several months now. Each time, they’re inquiring after me specifically. I’ve consistently declined to provide any information, yet the calls persist. Although they sometimes use different names, I can swear I’ve heard the same voice a couple of times. Lately, I’ve taken to simply rejecting their calls when they come through. It seems subtlety isn’t quite their strong suit!

Got a call from a guy named Peter, sounded like he had an accent from abroad. He claimed he was with TalkTalk. I asked to speak to their CEO, Dido Harding. He just hung up straight away. Pretty obvious it was some kind of scam!

I received a rather dubious call from someone with an Indian accent, who claimed that my TalkTalk internet browser was running sluggishly. He insisted that I log into my computer, but I wasn’t having any of it. When I explained that I had no way of verifying his identity, he seemed baffled by my refusal. Received a rather curious call from a gentleman sporting an Indian accent, who introduced himself as Sam Thomas, claiming to be from TalkTalk. He went on to state that my broadband connection was sluggish and offered to sort it out if I could hop onto my computer and follow his instructions. When I mentioned that I was unable to attend to it immediately and asked for a contact number to reach him later, he promptly provided the number 02031291097 and instructed me to ask for Sam Thomas when I called back. However, I wasted no time and rang TalkTalk directly, only to be informed that it was all a scam! Stay vigilant, folks!

I recently received what struck me as a dodgy phone call from a bloke with an Indian accent, claiming he was from Talk Talk. Fortunately, his accent was so thick I could barely make out what he was saying. I decided to ask him to send me a confirmation via email or post. This seemed to set him off, and he started hurling abuse at me. I promptly ended the call. Not long after, my phone was bombarded with about five subsequent calls, which I let go to voicemail. Eventually, I thought I’d just pick up without engaging, so I placed the receiver on the other side of the room. To my surprise, I could still hear him going off in a tirade on the line. I’ve reported this number to Talk Talk, and they've assured me that they'll take care of it and block it.

I received a rather amusing phone call from an Indian gentleman named Alex, who claimed to be representing Windows licensing. He insisted that he had attempted to get in touch with me on 15 separate occasions regarding an urgent renewal of my Windows licence, as there were some suspicious activities concerning my computer. Strangely, when pressed about which version of Windows I was using, he seemed rather stumped, despite wanting me to grant him access for this supposed renewal. I must say, it was one of the more entertaining phishing attempts I've encountered-his grasp of English was lacking, and his tech knowledge was practically non-existent!

Rang me twice on the 2nd of November, 2015. The first time, nothing but silence on the other end when I picked up. The second time, I got a rather thick Indian accent from a chap who introduced himself as "David" and said he was calling from Talktalk. However, he abruptly ended the call when I mentioned that we had switched providers. The fact he knew my name raises some serious red flags-definitely feels like a scam to me!
