Its a total scam. They ring from a computer so the number shows as London. Dont ever download any files they send or ask for, its just so they can take over your computer. If you dont do what they want after getting in, they lock your PC with a password and you cant get in again.

Got a call from an Asian sounding bloke on a rubbish connection, kept going on but made no sense. When I asked questions he started swearing at me. Got called by some bloke who sounded Asian. Didn’t come across as professional, but he definitely knew I was with Talk Talk. Seemed quite dodgy, so I asked him to verify who he was. He just said my first name was Jean. Told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call. My partner reckons I should’ve kept chatting, but I’d rather just hang up and look it up online. Thinking about passing this over to You and Yours on BBC Radio 4.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent, sounded like he was shouting over a noisy pub. He told me to install TEAMVIEWER to fix some internet issues. Thing is, that software would give them full access to your PC or laptop. Fortunately, my son who's got a degree in Computer Science flagged it as suspicious straight away. I'm convinced these are just scammers trying to scam you.

Got two calls from this number over the past few days. The first time there was silence, then a quick Asian voice on today’s call. Last week I had a bunch of calls from a hidden number which I reported to TalkTalk, but they said my phone should be blocking those hidden calls!! I actually changed my number after a scam last year, so this is really annoying. I rang 14258 after today’s call, like TalkTalk suggested, so fingers crossed it puts an end to it!

I just got a call from this number, the people on the line had really poor English and sounded Asian. What freaked me out was they knew my full name, address, and even my Talk Talk account number. Luckily, I managed to brush them off and looked up the number, which led me to this site.

Got a call from a man with an Indian accent, could hear loads of noise like a call centre in the background. I received a call from someone who pretended to be my TalkTalk Internet Service Provider (ISP). I informed them that I was not a TalkTalk customer, and they immediately hung up. Curious, I phoned the same number back, only to have an annoyed man deny having called me. In hindsight, I may have unintentionally disturbed him, and if he happens to read this, I would like to apologize. Fortunately, I hadn't turned on any of my computers at the time. If I had, they would have been operating on Linux, which could have potentially made it more challenging for the scammer.

I receive calls from this number approximately three times a day. Although I rarely answer such calls, I decided to pick up today. On the other end, an Asian gentleman claimed that there was an issue with my internet. I informed him that there was no problem and requested him not to call me again. I’ve been getting loads of calls like this for ages, they even know my name (used to be a TT customer). I usually tell them the person they want is behind bars for fraud, but I’ve taken over the phone. I play along, saying I’m about to ‘turn on my computer’, but it’s slow because it’s got a virus. I leave them waiting on hold. After about ten minutes, I pick up again and act like I’m helping with the scam. They get all eager asking what I see, then I say in a let-down voice, ‘Oh no, Windows crashed and needs to restart.’ We end up doing the same thing again after a while.

The bloke sounded african to me, saying he was from talk talk - i asked 'why are you ringing?' and he said 'we want your money!' I stayed pretty chill (for once!) and replied 'i bet you do!' He goes on '£200, £300, no matter, we always want cash!' So i quietly said 'go on then, this call is being recorded' and he started talking about some weird stuff (like some gross description) and hung up when i said 'this is being recorded' louder. I've dealt with this sort of scam before - they tell you there’s a problem with your internet or gadgets and try to guide you through fixing it. Be careful, cause they typically want to get into your computer or other kit. Best thing is to just hang up. Then, ring TalkTalk yourself on 150 from your landline to check if it’s legit. They’ll confirm it’s a scam for sure.

Then I reached out to the agency that handles online fraud, and they forwarded me to the National Crime Agency because I had solid evidence these scammers were the ones who’d hacked TalkTalk. Neither cared. TalkTalk seems like a real risk, especially for folks who aren’t as clued up or tech-savvy as me.

Somebody said they were from TalkTalk when they rang my old sister, and convinced her to let them access her computer remotely by pretending to be a technician! They had her on the phone for like two hours! I’ve reported it to TalkTalk, the police, and the fraud units now.

Got calls from 02088888777 three times today, each time saying they were from TalkTalk. They kept saying the router was slow but once I said I wasn’t a TalkTalk customer, they just hung up - total scam. Just tell ’em you’re with Speak Speak and they’ll drop it.

This London based number claiming to be TalkTalk is actually linked to BT. If you get any calls from it, make sure you report them to Action Fraud, City of London Trading Standards, your local trading standards office, plus TalkTalk and BT themselves. BT’s security line is 0808 100 4332. Also, any silent or dropped calls from this number need to be reported to Ofcom.

This number kept ringing me all week, Monday through Friday, usually about 10 in the morning. Nothing but silence or some weird static noise. I finally called them back and left a message. A bit later, my husband picked up one of their calls but they just hung up straight away. When he dialled the number back, some loud, harsh Asian-sounding bloke answered and just told us to "Go #### yourself" before slamming down the phone. Proper rude behaviour.

Got a call from 020 888 88777, some bloke said he was with Talk Talk. He wanted to send an engineer over to swap out the router. But when i asked him a quick question to check if he was legit, he just hung up on me.

Someone called saying they were from TalkTalk, telling me my router was infected with a virus. The voice sounded like it had an Asian accent. Total scam. I just hung up straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were from TalkTalk, sounded like they were in India, threatening to cut my internet if I didn’t pay straight away. I told them I’m not even a TalkTalk customer. They kept insisting I had an account and even mentioned my address. When I kept telling them no, they started getting rude, so I just hung up.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Talk Talk, but turned out to be an Indian call centre trying to trick me into installing some kind of virus on my PC by pretending they were 'fixing' one. When I kept asking whether it was a fault on Talk Talk's end or just with my account, and why they hadn’t emailed me anything instead, the guy got really short and rude. What freaked me out was how he already knew my account name and number. Honestly, Talk Talk should seriously improve their security!

Some bloke rang me up saying I’d caught viruses from the internet that’d mess up my computer. I told him I don’t even have a router and left TalkTalk ages ago. Then he goes on about how TalkTalk supposedly owes me cash. I just told him to stop being daft and hung up.

1:13 pm 26/8/16 got a call from 0208 888 777 again. It’s not the first time either, last time they pretended to be TalkTalk and said my router was infected with a virus. What’s worse is that we’re ex-directory!!

Got a call from a guy saying he's from Talk Talk, but he didn’t ask any questions to check my identity, which made me suspicious right away. He told me to switch on my laptop because it supposedly had "viruses". I just said “no thanks, goodbye” and ended the call. Planning to report this number to Talk Talk soon. I guess all these scam calls might be linked to Talk Talk’s data leak from a while back. Thinking about switching my internet provider, never had this kind of hassle with BT.
