They claimed to be my bank and mentioned transactions of £300 and £1100 from my account. Oddly, they never actually said which bank they were from.

I received a call from an automated system claiming to be my bank, but remarkably, it didn’t bother to mention the name of the bank or identify me at all. It went on about a £300 charge made to Amazon and another hefty sum of £1,100 for an 'international money transfer site' this morning. They prompted me to press 1 to cancel these so-called charges, which immediately raised my suspicions. I straight away logged into my banking account and found everything to be normal, no odd transactions in sight. Clearly, this is a scam-best to avoid pressing any buttons!

I received a call purporting to be from my bank, although it did not state which bank it represented, arousing my suspicions right away. It was an automated voice message informing me that a purchase of over £300 was made on Amazon, along with another purchase exceeding £1200 which I couldn't fully hear due to my impaired hearing. According to the message, my bank suspected fraudulent activity because these transactions were irregular for me. The message advised me to press a number on the keypad if I doubted its authenticity and wanted to speak to bank staff. To be cautious, I promptly ended the call. Then, independently, I checked the status of my Amazon orders and pending transactions with my bank. Thankfully, none of the details mentioned in the automated message turned out to be true, putting my mind at ease.

I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent named Crystal, who said she was ringing from BT about some tech problems. A deep Asian guys voice who kept messing up his lines, said something about BT or Sky broadband. I had a chuckle and said, "So you're a scammer then?" He swore back but all I caught was something about purdah. The same number called me two more times that hour, but it was a woman this time. Told her I’m onto them and know they're scammers using this same number. She just hung up straight away. Now that number’s blocked for sure 🚫

Got a call from another bloke with an Asian accent, this one said his name was Jason! Claimed he was from BT as an engineer checking on issues with my broadband. He asked about the colour of the light on my router and if it was blinking. Then he quizzed me about how many devices I had connected, so I pretended not to know. After that, he tried to get me to go online to diagnose the problem. He kept going on like he was really from BT! These scammers need to be stopped once and for all!

Probable scam alert! This morning, I received no fewer than four calls from some chap with an Indian accent, claiming to discuss my Microsoft licence. The calls came from this number as well as 01252656123, 01612832272, and 01782253994. After the initial contact, I politely declined to engage, stating I wouldn't divulge any information about my personal computer to a random caller. He immediately rang back and started to shout at me, insisting he didn’t need my details. I promptly hung up again. Following that, there were two more calls which I chose to ignore altogether.

A bloke with an Indian accent calling himself ‘Paul Anderson’ said he was from Microsoft. I told him I wasn’t interested and put the phone down. Then ‘Paul’ called back and tried to argue - not sure that’s a winning tactic, must be one that’d get you sacked at a proper firm. I gave him a firm piece of my mind about cold calls, without cursing, and hung up again. Looking back, I probably should’ve just let him chat away to the waste bin next to the phone until he twigged I’d gone.

Beware of scammers who falsely represent themselves as Virgin Media employees. Recently, I encountered an individual pretending to be from Virgin Media, alleging that there was an issue with my router and unauthorized users accessing my network. However, it is crucial to remember that Virgin Media would never contact customers in this manner. This deceitful approach is merely an attempt to obtain personal information and sensitive details. It is paramount to exercise caution when encountering such fraudulent schemes.

Got a call on my landline from someone claiming to be Microsoft, saying there was some dodgy activity on my email. The bloke had quite a strong Asian accent and the line was really bad, so I told him I couldn’t catch what he was saying and was about to hang up. He tried to argue but I ended the call anyway. Then the same number rang again soon after, but I just ignored it as I figured it was a scam. These days, most calls on my landline seem like dodgy ones!

Got a call from a call centre trying to reach Mr Cook. When I asked who it was and why they were calling, the bloke rudely told me to hang up if I wasn’t Mr Cook. I told him since he called me first, he should be the one to hang up. Funny thing is, he couldn't seem to end the call on his end. So I just left the phone off the hook for about half an hour.

Got a loudmouth bloke on the phone accusing us of using our computer for dodgy stuff. Told him to get lost but he just kept calling back, super irritating. Not long before, another bloke rang from 01514560348 (I put up a separate report for that one) with the same pushy attitude and rubbish claims. We’ve got two fellas here who know their way around computers and a tough woman too, so we’re fine dealing with these types. But I bet they’d scare off any old or non-tech-savvy folks. I’m definitely adding both those numbers to the BT block list on my landline.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from BT, informing me that my bill would be reduced. However, I realized that they were potentially scammers and promptly told them so. I also mentioned that I would be reporting the incident. In a rather audacious response, they threatened to report me instead! It is essential to take precautions and not let these individuals obtain your personal information. Stay vigilant and prioritize your online safety.

Just before 1pm I got a call on my landline. I answered but didn’t say a word, letting the other person talk first. After a pause, they just hung up. I rang 1471 to see who it was and it showed a London number, 02088884635. I don’t know anyone from London! Someone once told me it’s best not to speak first if you don’t recognise the caller - let them do the talking. Usually, if they’re dodgy, they’ll just drop the call. Works every time so far!

Got a voicemail from supposed Visa crooks saying I was charged for some flights. The call ended just as I was meant to be put through to someone, but these’re probably Indian scammers pretending to be from "Bank Security"/Visa. They try to pull off Authorised Push Payment Fraud by claiming unauthorised transactions happened on your debit card, accusing someone at your local branch, then tricking you into moving your cash into a “safe” account or doing a “dummy transfer” so they can nick it. Sometimes they even tell you to withdraw loads of cash and send it off to a money mule.

WARNING: THIS IS A FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY! Recently, I received a phony call from someone falsely claiming to be from Sky, informing me about issues with my Sky internet connection. However, I am not even a customer of Sky. In response, I decided to engage with the caller and said, "Do you really think I'm foolish?"
