We've been receiving a barrage of calls on both our mobile and landline. The landline has shown an incoming number that appeared to be from abroad. I caught a snippet of the conversation - it was a woman speaking English, claiming to be from BT, warning us that our Wi-Fi would be cut off unless we pressed 1. Naturally, I didn’t comply. Instead, I contacted BT to report it, and they confirmed it was a scam and promised to block the number. However, today I experienced the same thing once more, albeit from a different number, which is now also on their blocked list. If anyone has an inkling about the identity or purpose of these calls, please share your insights. Just a word of caution, though - think twice before engaging with the callers; it seems rather dodgy to me.
