I think this was a scam! Someone rang me claiming to be from Amazon, saying there had been some unusual activity on my account. They told me that someone from Ohio had just bought an iPhone using my details. When I said I hadn’t made the purchase, she said she’d cancel the order and mentioned sending me a verification code on my phone that I needed to read out to her. That’s when I got wary and asked her to verify her identity properly - but she just hung up on me.
