We're continually receiving recorded messages left by this number, requesting a certain John Holroyd and prompting us to press 1 for yes or 2 for no. When I press 2, it merely saves the message on our BT service. However, we don’t have anyone by that name residing here, nor do we have any connections with Virgin Media. Given that our number is unlisted, I’m not keen on calling them back at my own cost, as I suspect they would likely bombard us with sales pitches afterwards.

Essentially, they call your number before a human agent is available in their call centre. If all their agents are busy, that leaves callers hanging until the line is dropped. Received a couple of calls today; as soon as I answered, the line went silent. Tried calling the number back, and a woman answered claiming to be from Virgin Media. This chap on the other end insisted he needed all our details. Naturally, we told him to share some information first. It dawned on him that we weren't about to comply. He then mentioned something about an unpaid bill. We responded with, "Oh really? And where did you get that information?" He replied it was from Virgin. We clarified that our bill is settled in full and has been for quite a while now. Since his information was completely inaccurate, we pointed out he was violating the Data Protection Act. That’s when the call abruptly ended.

This number apparently belongs to Virgin Media, but we've got no idea why they're using an 0208 code. We gave them a ring back, and the way they verified our account details was exactly how Virgin Media does it when we call their 150 line. Still, they couldn’t provide any clarity about why we received the call in the first place-our account is all squared away, so it's left us completely puzzled. All we can say is that it indeed seems to be Virgin Media, but we won't be ringing them back if it shows up as a missed call again.

This number is definitely NOT affiliated with Virgin Media. I reached out to Virgin Media directly, and they transferred me to their fraud department. They confirmed that this number doesn't belong to them and even provided a website for reporting such incidents to the authorities: actionfraud.police.uk. I urge everyone not to share any personal details with this caller. What's particularly troubling is how they managed to obtain our mobile numbers; they even reached out to my family members' phones, asking for me!
