This number has called me several times the past few days, always hanging up right when my answerphone picks up. Today, I actually answered because I was expecting a call about something important. The person on the line had an Asian accent and claimed to be someone from the BT Technical Team. I didn’t bother listening and quickly interrupted them with, "I'm sure that's what you say, but I’m not interested. Bye."

This number has been ringing me on and off for the past few days. When I finally answered, a bloke with an Asian accent called himself Harry Joseph. He claimed to be from Virgin Media and said there was an issue with my internet and wanted me to get on my computer. I told him my laptop wasn’t around at the moment. Then he asked when he could ring me back! Honestly, I’m sure some folks might fall for this kind of thing.

Tried calling 1471 but got a message saying 'number unknown'! The 020 code is for London, and 8731 points to NW11. Usually, 1471 tells you if the caller’s number is hidden or ex-directory, which is legit. So this one feels a bit dodgy to me, worth putting it in the ‘risky’ box.

The caller had an Indian accent and started talking about issues with my BT service (which I don’t even use) and claimed my Windows computer was infected with a virus (I don’t use Windows either). I just let the bloke waffle on for a good 20 minutes, hoping to stop anyone else from falling for his scam.

BEWARE SCAM - I got a call from a guy speaking with a strong Indian accent claiming he was from BT Open Reach. He told me hackers were trying to mess with my computer. After doing some bogus checks, he handed me over to some ‘Level 2 Tech’ called ‘Kevin’. Then Kevin did more fake testing and told me to download a piece of software from 1234computer.com. If you ever get a call like this, just hang up immediately - #This is definitely a scam - your computer will get hacked#

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from BT, warned me that someone was tampering with my broadband. I told her she was talking rubbish and then she just ended the call. Definitely not BT!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with “BT” saying they’d need to cut off my broadband for a couple of hours. I didn’t trust it right away and asked for a callback number. As soon as I did, they just ended the call. Definitely a scam attempt.
