I got a call from a woman named Mary, who spoke with a strong accent that sounded Indian. She claimed my computer was sending error messages from its drivers and wanted me to turn it on so she could walk me through the issue. When I asked her to explain what kind of errors, she said the server was showing loads of them. I told her straight that I work in IT and that she was talking nonsense, so she shouldn’t bother me. Don’t fall for calls like this, they’re usually fishing for a way to get you to install software so they can sneak into your system and cause all sorts of trouble.
