Got a voicemail from someone pretending to be HMRC, saying I’m under investigation for major tax fraud and that I need to call them right away. I didn’t quite get the phone number though, thank goodness. It really annoys me how these scammers target those who might easily be fooled by this kind of stuff!

I decided to ring them back, and was greeted by a rather pleasant gentleman named Givasha Urmony. He appeared to be sincere, albeit with rather poor hearing. I ended up having to share all the information from four different credit cards, and when he still struggled to hear, I found myself disclosing my passwords and banking information. All of this was supposedly because I owed taxes to HMRC! LET ME WARN YOU, THIS IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM! Never ever engage with such calls or hand over any cash or personal information to these people who are out to pilfer your hard-earned money! Remember, HMRC can collect what they are owed without sending a message, so there’s no reason to lose any sleep over it…

Today, I received a rather alarming call from the number 02081238826, claiming that I was under investigation for tax issues. They promptly terminated the call without any further explanation! Naturally, I dialled 1471 to find out more, and it turned out the number was actually 02086388800! Quite the unsettling experience, I must say.

I received a phone call at 1:09 PM today, the 17th of December, informing me that I was under investigation for tax fraud and that I needed to return the call without delay. Just as quickly, the line went silent. I used 1471 to track down the number, but instead of the usual prompt to press 3 for a callback, the call simply cut out. It’s been a day of back-to-back calls, with friends and family wishing me a happy 72nd birthday! What makes the whole ordeal more frustrating is that I had to navigate my way from the far end of the house to answer the phone - all while in my wheelchair!

I got a call from this number claiming there was some sort of tax fraud going on. It's not the first time either. I just put the phone down since I figured it was one of those automated scam calls. Still, I bet some folks might actually fall for it. Honestly, no clue why they haven't blocked this number yet.

Got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC saying I was under investigation for tax evasion, urging me to ring back. I know neither HMRC nor the fraud department would ever leave a message like that. I missed jotting down the callback number, but it resembled their usual number and ended with 36. Honestly, if you get these dodgy calls, best to notify the police or HMRC straight away.

ALARMING SCAM ALERT - Do NOT pick up the phone, do NOT hit 1, and absolutely DO NOT return their call! You’re in no jeopardy for ignoring their irritating and intimidating voicemails. These individuals, posing as officials from HMRC, are actually Indian fraudsters, intimidating individuals with threats of immediate arrest over fictional tax debts unless you cough up cash on the spot! They employ cunning manipulation and aggressive pressure tactics to fleece unsuspecting members of the public, with a worrying number of elderly individuals already falling prey to their deceit.
