02086388432 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02086388432 👆 is reported as a persistent HMRC-related scam involving automated calls and voicemails that threaten legal action unless the recipient calls back. The messages are often aggressive, use intimidating language, and may reference a fictitious officer’s name. Victims report poor English accents, requests for personal details, and demand for immediate payment of alleged tax debts. HMRC does not typically contact individuals by phone with such threats, preferring official letters. Multiple users confirm blocking the number and advise others not to respond or engage. Authorities urge reporting such calls to actionfraud and remind the public to verify any tax concerns through official HMRC channels rather than the suspicious number. This is a clear attempt to deceive and extort money, targeting vulnerable individuals.

Looks like this number is linked to a scam where you get an email with a PDF invoice that looks like you bought something legit on ebay. The sneaky bit is the phone number for the fraud team on the invoice is actually this scam number. Best avoid calling it.

I got a call like this as well. From what I’ve seen, HMRC usually gets in touch through the mail with properly printed official letters. This call was definitely fake and not worth paying attention to.

Got a text from these lot and thought I'd mess about a bit by calling them back. I just said my name was ‘John’ and they claimed I owed £3800 in tax - ridiculous, right? I told them that sounded a bit steep and asked if they had the right 'John' - then they just hung up! Tried again as ‘Jimmy’ and he apparently owed a big sum too. Told them I wasn’t ‘Jimmy Carr’ so there must be an error, and they cut off again. Oh, and 'Mr Harry Potter' is apparently in debt to them as well. Definitely an HMRC scam, steer clear!

BEWARE OF THIS DREADFUL SCAM! Under no circumstances should you pick up the phone, press 1, or return their call. You are completely within your rights to disregard their alarming and over-the-top messages without facing any repercussions. These conniving individuals, often based in India, masquerade as HMRC agents, issuing threats of imminent arrest for supposed unpaid taxes, all in a bid to pinch quick payments from unsuspecting victims! Their tactics are frighteningly manipulative, aiming to exploit the fears of vulnerable individuals, and sadly, they’ve already managed to dupe a number of older folks. Stay vigilant and protect yourself from their deceitful practices!

I had the same experience. They said it was from Dennis Green at HMRC. Like others have said, this has to be a scam. I’ve dealt with HMRC before, and this definitely isn’t how they work. If they wanted to warn you legally, they’d send proper letters through the post, usually a few of them before any serious action. Plus, if they do call, it’s always a real person, never some recorded message.
